Looking through Reddit, a majority of people say the switch version is the best for gameplay (joy con motion controls or touchscreen) followed by Steam deck and then PC/console with mouse / controller. $5 is worth a try on switch . Switch does have the lowest resolution in handheld, 720p, but 1080p docked and 30 fps.

I had this on the Wii, and you used the pointer controls to draw the glyphs. I don't think I ever finished it. After getting to a certain point, I simply didn't know what to do next.

It's a pretty game, and I tried playing it on the PS4, but every time you go to the system menu the controller gets de-synced, and it's a pretty horrible experience.

How do you do the glyphs on the Switch if you're using a Pro Controller? This is the lowest price it's ever been on Switch, but I'm not sure I'd actually play through it. It's a pretty game, but the combat is repetitive, and the graphics, while pretty, aren't all that clear. I'm excited for the sequel that just got announced, but the first game might just be too dated and janky for me to enjoy anymore.

I've never actually played it, hopefully someone else can respond. I was just researching Reddit to see what are the best platforms to play.

This game is one of the very very few that miraculously manages to have a more audibly annoying cast than all the Banjo-Kazooie games. It is beautiful but I found it slow and threw in the towel at 10 or 12 hours. That said, 5 dollars is a steal

Played through it on PS2 when first came out. Was a great game. May pick up again to prepare for the sequel. Sure the controls improve over trying to do the brush with analog sticks.

No, Capcom, I will not buy this game a fourth time. I bought it on the PS2--I traded that version in for the Wii version, and I bought it again on the PS3. I have never beaten it. I never will beat it. I have made peace with this.

Here's hoping the Switch 2 next year will bring it up to 1080p and 60 fps.

Unless it gets a patch, that won't happen. More powerful hardware doesn't bring native resolution and the framerate up. It's a programming issue. They haven't even patched it for PS5 or Xbox.

Add me as another that never even got close to finishing the game (have it on PS2). The first 10 or so hours were fun but it started feeling like it'd be a grind to beat all the bosses. Back when I played it, I tried to beat every game I had and hardly ever gave up even when I wasn't really enjoying them. And yet as fun as Okami was, I threw in the towel. Unless they made many quality-of-life improvements, I can understand other posters' reservations about whether it's too dated to be worth playing anymore.

I'm hoping for this price on PS4… then I'll buy it for the third time and not beat it.

Such a great game, but I preferred it on Wii and had trouble getting into it on switch. The paintbrush strokes on Wii were where it's at.

Played the original on PS2. Finished it. Loved it the whole way through. Totally worth $5.
