As a general note Xbox remotes like this are IR based and the IR receiver is tiny and hard to hit and you can't use it if you keep your Xbox tucked away. It really sucks it doesn't operate on the same level as the controllers

As far as I know, there are no media remotes for Xbox that are not IR. Even the official Xbox media remote is IR, which is a shame.

This is a nice remote with a great button setup, but not great build quality. I would recommend against it if you have small kids in the house.

While it's not exactly a remote, you can use the Xbox app on your phone and do remote play to control your Xbox.
