Frequently Asked Questions
What is DIY-U by Lowe's?
DIY-U by Lowe's is our approach to accessible and interactive do-it-yourself experiences for the whole family, and it's all free. We offer monthly in-store workshops where children ages 4 and older are invited to build memories and basic DIY skills with their families. And now, mini-builders can graduate to Junior and Senior Builders through Builder Recognition and earn limited-edition badges. Alongside our popular in-store DIY-U by Lowe's Kids' Workshops, customers can use the DIY-U by Lowe's hub to access family-focused how-to content, helping everyone build DIY confidence and become lifelong builders.
How do I participate in the DIY-U by Lowe's Kids' Workshops?
MyLowe's Rewards members can reserve their spot each month at Lowes.com/DIYU. You must register for your local store in advance, as workshops can fill up quickly. After registration, you'll receive a confirmation email, which is your ticket for the workshop. On the day of the event, bring your child(ren) to the store at the scheduled time and participate in the hands-on building activity.
What is Builder Recognition and how does it work?
Builder Recognition rewards kids for completing multiple workshops. After each monthly workshop, mini-builders receive a collectible iron-on badge that they can use to earn Junior or Senior Builder status. To participate in Builder Recognition:
1. Register using your MyLowe's Rewards account and attend your selected workshop with your mini-builder.
2. Complete the monthly workshop and attach the collectible badge to your mini-builder's apron.
3. After collecting six eligible badges, your local DIY-U by Lowe's captain will award your mini-builder with a limited-edition Junior Builder badge and card.
4. Once a Junior Builder completes six more workshops (12 total), they can graduate to Senior Builder via Lowes.com/SrBuilder.
Monthly badges are awarded during workshops, and participants must keep their physical badges to receive recognition.
What can I expect during a DIY by Lowe's Kids' Workshop?
During the workshop, kids will work with pre-cut and pre-drilled materials to complete a fun project. Workshops are designed to be a fun, hands-on learning experience, with DIY-U by Lowe's captains assisting the participants. Kids also earn a collectible badge with each project, which can be attached to their apron as part of the Builder Recognition program.
Can I bring multiple children to the workshop?
Yes. Each MyLowe's Rewards member can register and bring up to four children to each workshop. Ensure you select the same store and time slot for all of your children. Capacity is limited and varies by store, so registering early is recommended. Only members who have registered are guaranteed a spot, and participation is only guaranteed at the store for the time and number of mini-builders on your ticket.
