I own a Denon turntable (different model - DP-300F) as well as a Fluance RT85.

While I'm happy with my Denon, at the $299 price point I would recommend the Fluance RT82 [fluance.com]. It's the same price and has an isolated servo motor which is the better design.

This was a popular deal over the Black Friday weekend. It wants to be a higher end turntable, but the cartridge is admittedly basic and the dust cover is not to everyone's taste. $300 is a good price if you want a better built turntable (which I want to hope this one is).

The red cartridge is around $100. You would be better off getting the fluance RT83 which comes with the Ortofon Red for $350:

And it comes with a real dust cover vs the weird one that the DP-400F comes with.

Happy with my Denon 300F. Upgraded the cartridge (Ortofon red) and it sounds great to me.

Correct. No preamp and it's not an automatic or semiautomatic either.

I like automatic tables so I don't have to worry about it sitting and spinning in the runout groove because I fell asleep listening to music.

Love my RT85. Best Christmas gift I received last year!

The main selling point I see for this Denon is the ability to play 78rpm vinyl. That's not a common feature at the more entry level price points, if I recall correctly

Same. Sounds fantastic. And an automatic turntable makes life so much easier.

We're talking about the Denon 300F. It has a normal dustcover.

This is a great point which is easily overlooked.

I bought the Denon a few years ago and as far as I remember, auto-stop and being able to play 78s were two of the main selling points for me. 78s are uncommon and you need a different stylus but now it's an option.

I'm happy with the Denon. This is a great deal on it.

All correct except Fluance is semi-automatic. I agree that Automatic is very convenient though. Ultimately it depends on wants/needs. I think I would prefer an Ortofon Red and proper dust cover vs fully automatic but I haven't ruled it out completely! So many options out there!
