it has 2 nvme slots for storage and upgradable ram, 2x ddr5. i have it, great laptop. i think weight is just right, not too heavy like other gaming laptops but it's not slimmest either. power brick is OK sized.
thunderbolt 4 port is a nice addition. i 've seen $1000 gaming laptops missing TB4 port, dunno why.

Right now, this is the best gaming laptop for $500 and under. It will play fortnight and most games at 1080p.

That, along with 16GB RAM (usually gaming laptops at this price have 8GB), extra NVMe slot, and thunderbolt 4.

I would definitely get this if I had the money, I added it to my bookmarks for later if it comes on sale again. Thx op

Just curious on what other people's experiences with the lifetime of a laptop has been for them?
My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 15 7559, bought it in 2016 and I upgraded the hard drive for the os to one of those card drives. Laptop works fine other than the battery going bad 4 years ago so I just use it plugged in wall, but my storage drive seems to be making more noise recently and taking a bit longer to wake up when it goes into sleep mode.

Anybody know how this laptop compares against the HP Victus laptop with similar specs that Walmart had for $500 for early black Friday a month ago?

That one had an RTX 4050, everything else is about the same except maybe for the Thunderbolt 4 port.

are you still on a HDD? my kids were using an i5-4210u machine until recently. i added a SSD and RAM (12GB), it is still pretty good at browsing the web.

The os drive is ssd type, the storage drive is hdd. I'm guessing that eventually my hdd storage drive will die but the ssd will stay running making the laptop still useable.

I apologize for the noob question.
Im on a super tight budget and need a laptop for 7th grader that can play fortnite reliably.
Is this a good, or even best option for $500?
I appreciate any help you can give this cave man!
