You're right, but it makes me laugh because yesterday there was a deal listed on one of the ARM models (which I have, and which is great) that doesn't have the battery life issue, and most of the responses were "it's ARM, stay away!"

Microsoft just can't win. Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

I love my surface pro 9. I picked it up nearly 2 years ago with a costco deal. got the I5 16gb version WITH the keyboard for $1k TWO years ago brand new. The SSD is easily swappable via a magnet door and a single screw. Download the image from MS for the surface, put it on a USB and you are back up and running in less than 30 minutes (including updates and whatnot).

I haven't had battery life issues with it at all. It lasts me all day for what I do. Is it going to run for 15 hours? Prob not... but who uses a machine like this for 15 straight hours and doesn't have a back up battery? This is USB chargeable.

I swear the people buying these don't understand what it is. I run my entire business of this little machine. I recently upgraded the storage to 2tb (had prev. upgraded to 1). It can function as a tablet, it can function as a laptop, it runs full windows, handles all my business apps, and can even do some light gaming (nothing AAA obviously). I love my surface. I'm bummed the new ones are ARM cause I do not believe all my apps will function well. But, hopefully the apps will be updated soon since it seems ARM is going to be the future.

I've heard horror stories about Allstate warranties. Probably would not trust them to deliver anything when this laptop inevitably breaks down.

YMMV: P@yp@I has 2% CB for Ebay. Rewards tab -> "Save Offer" on Ebay.

Also helps because PP has gives more customer protection in case something goes wrong.

Using the tablet to display a HomeAssistant dashboard. Wouldn't buy this particular tablet (too pricey) just for that, though.

Can you have a HomeAssistant on any regular Android tablet? Or would they be too slow or not be compatible? I'm not that familiar but was thinking about eventually replacing my whole Google Home setup.

I use mine for work (digital paperwork with customers, manuals, reference materials) and around the house for watching shows, recipes. It's a nicer form factor for me vs. a full sized laptop, especially with a good case.
