Why does Alienware still use trash 300 nit screens? Should be at least 400-500 nits for any laptop >$1000

Yesterday, they had the same price for a 16GB, all other specs the same. They threw in an extra 16GB and kept the price the same. Maybe tomorrow, they add the ultra 9 for the same price!!

Also, check AMEX credit card. They have Dell cash back. And do CB sites.

Very nice modern Intel gaming laptop with a 4070 and Core Ultra 155H. Good battery life when using iGPU and lower screen brightness, fans keep the system cool at lower settings resulting in less fan noise.

Review:

https://www.notebookcheck.net/Ryz...965.0.html

Review Highlights:
Our Core Ultra 7 155H is about 10 to 15 percent slower than the Core i7-13700HX on last year's m16 R1 in both single- and multi-threaded operations. It is essentially on par with the recent Ryzen 9 8945HS.
Despite the performance deficit against the Core i7-13700HX, the m16 R2 is able to run the Core Ultra 7 155H noticeably faster than other laptops equipped with the same processor. For example, the Core Ultra 7 155H in the recent MSI Prestige 16 runs almost 20 percent slower.

The system supports two M.2 2280 SSD slots. 1 empty.

The m16 R2 is able to run the Core Ultra 7 155H noticeably faster than other laptops equipped with the same processor. For example, the Core Ultra 7 155H in the recent MSI Prestige 16 runs almost 20 percent slower.

Graphics performance from our 140 W GeForce RTX 4070 is about 10 percent faster than the average laptop in our database equipped with the same GPU.

Laptop remains cool enough when gaming even at medium and low fan speeds without a loss in performance.
When running 3DMark 06 on Balanced mode, for example, the m16 R2 would remain quiet for longer at 32 dB(A) than the previous M16 R1.

Battery Runtimes

Idle (without WLAN, min brightness): 12h 38minWiFi
Websurfing: 8h 03min
Load (maximum brightness): 1h 00min

If you want a 4070 gaming laptop with a good screen, newer Intel CPU and excellent battery life then this one would fit the bill. This is one of the first deals I've seen on a serious gaming laptop using the Meteor Lake CPUs and I anticipate that we might see more discounts on Meteor Lake gaming laptops as the Lunar Lake gaming laptops become more available.

i got it with the discount code, which amounted to $150, the issue is when you sign up you have to wait 2-3 days for the code, but i just chatted with customer support until they gave it to me.

How much power does 4070 consume on idle? The point of the CPU is to last all day but it won't if the gfx picks up the slack.

Runs the integrated Intel at idle and most stuff, from what I've observed on my G16.

Most gaming laptops do run on the iGPU when you're not gaming, even cheap ones.

A mux switch isn't required to run only the iGPU when not gaming. Mux switches(or advanced Optimus) allow the dGPU to run without going though the iGPU. But the iGPU can run without the dGPU in any gaming laptop. So a mux switch increases gaming performance, it doesn't increase battery life.

Gaming on the battery with the dGPU doesn't work well on any laptop.

i agree. thought it was common sense never to game on battery lol. there are lower end laptops that dont have igpu though.. people should be aware to look for that when purchasing
