I bundled this deal with their current promo on 15% off $100+ gift cards. So, I got this bond collection for $85.

$100 to "own" files. What happens when the powers that be decided Connery slapping femme fatels around is not appropriate viewing for the masses? BUY PHYSICAL MEDIA!

There's so much great content on so many platforms, why would anyone buy some old movies other than just because it's on sale, or want to own (hoard) stuff they'll never use?
We will watch them all in order. Instead of wasting money on going out to eat, we cooked at home for a lot less and watched Dr. No last night.

Not going out to eat one time covered the cost of the total collection.

Also, a lot of new movies and TV shows are crap, and we like the nostalgia of old movies.

Not an expert but the short answer is it depends. The team involved in doing the transfers to higher resolution make choices regarding amount of grain kept, aspect ratio, color of scenes, etc etc that affect the final result. Some transfers or scans of the analog film are better than others.
Also these Bond movies are just upscaled digitally.

Rumor is there will be a physical 4k Sean Connery Bond set released in 2025. Hopefully with new transfers. If done right that should blow these digital versions away. I wonder if these would be upgraded automatically?

There comes a point when physical media is too much and takes up too much space. I stopped buying blu-rays years ago. I used to buy a bunch every year for BF. I still have some to organize on the book shelfs that have dust on them now.

I hate to sound like a boomer but I have to agree. I refuse to buy digital movies and music. They're printed on physical media still, which you own. You can take it with you. You can copy it and save it elsewhere. You can pass it on to your family. You can loan it to friends. I understand the appeal of streaming content to anywhere you are but you can build your own! I'll never spend a dime for a movie or show that some corporate mook can just decide that I no longer "own" because they don't want to pay the royalties for hosting anymore.

Great deal. Great movies. They do this kind of a sale every year so if this isn't the right year for you it will probably be similar next year.

I once sold all these bond movies back to Microsoft for $5. Although they were twisting my arm.
Also a victim of Microsoft.

So glad I was able to jump on the Blu-Rays soon after for $41, after seeing these streaming options for $99 and above.

Sure, it's only HD, and missing the latest film (No Time to Die), but at least no one can take them away from me, especially Microsoft.

The biggest concern I have is the "4K" part. The HD version looks solid as it was rescanned. But if a good deal of this is "4K" instead of 4K (and with HDR), that means they will likely release a true 4K version, which makes this version potentially obsolete in a couple years. Additionally, if it is only 4K with no HDR, the only benefits over HD are better resolution (if you sit close enough to the TV) and color. It is a good price, but it isn't the best product.

I hate how the studios are allowed to lie about labels. We didn't have this problem with SD to HD.

Already have 5 of the movies in 4K from the Daniel Craig's 5-movie collection. This need to be at $50 or lower to make it worthwhile for many people.

Again understanding the labels is key.
As the label here
"4K"= UHD
Almost all "4K" is transferred to a "HDR" metadata.
BTW HDR=HDR10
Quality is pretty much tied to that transfer, not sure what you mean by "true 4K version"?

Side note digital "4K" isn't really true 4K also.

In 4k though? Also does anyone know if these are HDR or Dolby Vision?
All the Daniel Craig movies seem to be in HDR & Dolby Vision format from what I've seen. All the rest from Connery to Brosnan have the bare bones 4K treatment, no frills. Which is unfortunate as I personally rewatch the Brosnan movies every year or 2, would love to see them in HDR. I'm guessing at some point they will release all of them in HDR and DV. Likely in 4K again as it doesn't look like 8K is kicking off well..

I can't progress because I can't find anywhere to watch Casino royale and I don't want to pay to rent it

Now I get it. I totally forgot about that and I paid Microsoft $5 as well only to have them take them back and refund it. Lol
