You want a mount that can hit 3 studs for large TVs, so you need one of the 34" wide mounting brackets, not a 20 or 28".
Studs are generally 16" on center, so attach the bracket to 3 studs (using 6 lag bolts), then slide the TV over along the bracket to where it looks centered on the wall.
You will need 2 extra Lag Bolts as they usually only supply 4 of them. (5/16" diameter, 3" length)
Yes, the box was printed before TVs over 70" were a thing; but I've used these on 89" TVs a bunch of times this past year. With a 176 pound weight rating, you would have a hard time finding a TV at even half that weight.

Even a 100" TV is only 150 lbs out of the box.
I personally have mounted a bunch of 89" TVs with this exact mount.
