Yeah but you can't get full performance on 100w. The included charging brick is rated at 230w.
The 100w charger solution is ok for working purposes if all you want is a work at the office and play at home machine, but for those looking for a more portable solution, such as traveling and lots of commute and NEED the full performance, it won't be the best.

The 4070 is not, but currently you can't get the g14 with more than 16gb of ram without paying an arm and a leg more. If it wasn't for the 5000 series right around the corner, this would've been a killer deal.
Agreed. It's a great deal for a very specific person Stick Out Tongue

Does anyone know how durable and what's the build quality? I'm looking for a portable laptop for my daily usage which sometimes includes heavy computing (which is why the 64GB caught my eye) but also allow me some gaming (nothing to serious, don't need top AAA games running incredibly). This seems to cater those needs - but I have never bought or used an MSI laptop before so I'm worried about the quality and durability - My dell latitude bought in 2015 is still going strong... (for work purposes, it definitely can't handle the gaming aspect). If this machine is even half as durable -i'm in Wink I was thinking about the G14 in this price range but this seems not far off spec-wise but with the added ram...

Adorama return policy is not very clear but 15% restocking fee if you don't like the laptop.

How hot and loud do these get? Always wonder with such compact gaming laptops.

I looked at a couple of benchmarks and they're all at lower resolutions (1080, 1440). I would expect the 4080 which has almosrt twice the core count to shine at 4K. https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Com...vsm2033663

True, but this laptop's use case is to be portable when you need it and powerful when you need it. There will always be a sacrifice between both. In this case, the sacrifice is that you won't get the full performance in 3D applications, but it will be a great companion for when you're on business trips or going to class in college. On 100W it will breeze through any usage short of triple A gaming.

Why exactly? Even at 90W this can play most modern titles very high @4k. Not exactly future proof but it's a lightweight laptop...
I would not recommend a mobile 4070 for 4k. I would not say it handles most games at 4k on very high, rather it's more like a 50/50 shot, and many new ones can still struggle even with DLSS doing a lot of legwork. That said, this is less than 4k and should be fine. I still think 1600p rather than 1800 is the sweet spot

Beautiful computer and really light, but the power brick is so huge and heavy that completely defeats the purpose of this thin and light.
The power brick is really just necessary if you're gaming and on the dedicated GPU.

I will point out that the limiting factor for this device is the video-memory being only 8GB. If video-editing is in your line of work you will definitely experience slowdown editing 4k footage. A year or so ago I had a coworker buy a last-gen 3080ti laptop with an i9 for around $1400 rather than a similarly spec'd 4070 laptop because the 3080ti one came with 16GB video memory.

Outside of that I'd expect the MSI Stealth 14 AI Studio (horrible name) to have much better battery-life than his machine. If you don't need more video memory for your line of work then this could be a good option for you. If you're looking to buy for gaming purposes then definitely look elsewhere -there are $850 4070 laptops on sale right now that will provide better GPU performance than this for significantly less money.

BB has the G14 with 4070 and 32GB for $1650, not a blazing deal but not an arm and a leg more either.

This won't really handle any serious gaming at 90W TGP, but if you're looking for a thin and light OLED laptop this is gonna handle most every day tasks and schoolwork you can throw at it.
4070 and below stop scaling past 100W, even 90 performs within 5% of max.
