In for one. Reviews on Youtube cover the pros and cons, and this is seemingly perfect for capturing gameplay from older 1080p HDMI game consoles, provided you have no special requirements and just need a "dumb" device to plug into OBS.

Is there any benefit or point to having this for streaming on a single PC? Like does it offload capturing from the GPU or CPU to get better performance? Or is it really only worth it if you're capturing on a 2nd PC?

If you plan on going 2 pc, if you have a game console (PS4 etc) or if you wanted to set up a camera with HDMI out.
I'm thinking about buying one just because I have the XR1 already and the lite would mean I wouldn't need to yoink the one out of my current setup.

Curious about the webcam using DSLR. So I use HDMI out from say a7mk2 then this box to PC via USB 3.0 . What software will make it recognize as a webcam?

If you want to pipe in video output from something on your computer. Usually for recording via OBS. Most people do video games, but I have a microscope that I used for looking at microbes under a water sample. I pipe the HDMI from the camera into the capture card into my computer. What's neat is I can have it constantly "shadow" recording so it sort of caches it or something and then when something cool pops up I can just hit a hotkey and it records the last X seconds or minutes so I don't have to be hot on the record button for something that comes up.

I'll be getting into FPV with my incoming RC car, so I'd like to pipe that video live to someone who's watching next to me so they can see what I see without me having to save and play a video after the fact. I mean you can do that with a monitor though, but I could be able to record it as well. Can plug the laptop up into a large monitor or TV though and have that for spectators full screen and then you use the laptop for you or something to record.

This was not supposed to be such a long post.
