The new version of these with the covered release button is truly awful for rear facing use, I am going to hold out on buying my 2nd one until they hopefully revise it next year.

I heard about that. I'll see when I get it and report back but I don't really have the option of waiting since my kid is about to max out their infant car seat 😂

I heard if you lift the footrest or remove the plastic it helps.

I did that, it helps some.. but it's still real dumb. I may just cut the flap off, nothing like trying to bend your hand / finger the wrong way while your kid is impatiently crying to get out of the seat.
