I bought this exact model -- same X1 Carbon Gen 11 with the same specs -- in November 2023 (yes, over a year ago!) for a several hundred less than this price.
China tariffs? Or just not very slick?
UPDATE: The OP changed and the price dropped. this is better at around $1K, but that's still close to what I paid a year ago on a Black Friday Cashback deal.

Their little trick to avoid violating FTC pricing rules is that they have a bunch of different, but mostly similar, models, and they rotate which ones go on sale, so that they always have one of fairly comparable specs that's available at the "sale" price.
And the ones that aren't on "sale"? Those are being touted at the lower price through "private" email offers with coupon codes that dont violate the FTC pricing rules (because the price isn't published).

Oh, wait! the deal changed. it's better now by hundreds less. Much better price at close to $1K, but that's still only down to around what I paid after Cashback on Black Friday 2023. This is now an older model so I'd hope it would be less.
