Sorry I'm new to this
Looking for HT set for my basement (5050ub, Sony STR-AN1000, average sized room , 16 by 25 or so).
Is it a good buy, or should I spend more on a better set?
For example is Klipsch RP 8000f bundle for 1350 (https://www.adorama.com/kp1070013...ailprice=t) would be a better deal overall?
Looking for bang for the buck for a good set. Currently have some old cheap Harman Kardon 5.1 with Sony sa-w2500 sub, but looking for something better.

Sounds like money is not an issue, Klipsch, specifically their Reference Premier line up is top notch. At 1300 it is a great deal. No doubt.
Magnat 2002 deal is very good but unknown in US, not sure about service or repairs. It's mainly targeted for first time HT customers or deal seekers.
If you have time and love deal, try to mix and match and get exactly what works for you.
I went that route, about month later,I am extremely happy and impressed with sound and look of my HT.
I have 2 of KEF Q450 + Klipsch RP 504 center and 4 of R41sa for side and rear wall.
I bought a similar bundle (2x tower, 2x bookshelf, subwoofer) the last time there was a big markdown - $379.
MSRP seems inflated, but did seem like they go back to that high pricing after promo. Don't think many are buying at those prices, though!
I needed a set of towers for the bedroom setup. The rest are still boxed up. Very happy with them for the price. The towers have a much more "full" sound than I've been used to with my smaller Klipsch Atmos towers (not reference) in the living room.
The manufacturer packaging protection is not very good. Adorama had to send out a new bookshelf set after mine arrived. No puncture protection on the side of the cartons.

I've not had the same success with mixing brands. I've always thought the sound signatures were a little off.
I did a Polk/Mirage system.

I am using this same exact set and color..this is an incredible value and serves my Hometheater purpose..i added a used Magnat Alpha RS 12 subwoofer and paid $113 extra...bought two used height speakers and i am set with a Denon S770H
with Denon ,movie watching experience becomes next level, tip after running Audyssey , just tweak settings, crossovers and levels as per liking and this system sound amazing, its my main Hometheater syster in Living area

ill tell it to you straight. these speakers are either going to be perfect for you or absolute trash. where your answer lies is how picky you are.

As you can see just in here sound quality is completely subjective.
The best "bang for the buck" is defined different for each of us.
The only way to actually know is listen for yourself.
Unfortunately those days of doing that easily are pretty much long gone.
I would suggest looking locally at what you can listen to and get an idea of what you like.
If this is long term investment I would suggest going after the ones you find that you really like but are a little out of your price range.
You just buy it in pieces.
It actually comes out cheaper in the long run and much more satisfied sooner imo.
Good luck.

dont listen to anyone else.
Don't listen to this individual, buy this Magnat 2002 set with confidence, you will be surprised for what you are getting at this price..its at lower price only bcz its not a big brand, but it competes with high end brands like Polk n KEF with the quality

Polk and Mirage are crazy different. Well, anything is different compared to what Mirage did.
If you are going to mix brands you have to run room correction to at least make an attempt to make them sound similar. Even buying the same brand but different lines will have different sound signatures. Unless you are buying literally the same speaker for each position then there will be different sound characteristics. Enclosure size, driver arrangement, front baffle design, drive size, etc. all change a speakers sound signature.
