Similarly DoorDash will not offer promotions while you have a gift card balance on your account. For this reason I only redeem the card when I'm checking out
False information. I have two separate Uber accounts on 2 mobile devices. Once I heard this lunacy, I tested it for myself and it's the same price with one account loaded with a GC and the other not. People spreading this nonsense are the same people that complain about everything and thinks the world is against them.
I keep a balance and I am consistently still getting offers. Yes there are definitely droughts that happen but they happen with no Uber Cash in the account as well.

Fees aren't any higher with or without cash loaded.

The only tricky thing is when doing rides it can be difficult to decipher the promotional offer because it will show $0 for everything because Uber Cash is in the account so just be cautious but u can also add the GC after booking the fare if this bothers you.

Still u are talking $200 in GC for $150 ($144 if u have Executive and Costco Card). That is a generous head start to combine with the many coupons they are sending Uber One members.

I did this deal in November. As soon as I loaded Uber Cash on the app, every one of my usual rides had an inflated price so it eats away at the balance faster than usual.
Wow, can anyone else confirm the fee is higher if GC is pre-loaded?

Then how about wait loading GC until after the ride?

But are you still able to get $200 in GC? I was told by a rep last night that you are only allowed $100 worth within a two week period now.

Yep still able to get $200 in GC every 14 days. If the deal comes around sooner than 14 days, what seems to work is placing the order on my wife's household account. Different membership # and different Costco Citi CC# so it still processes the $200 in GC for $149.98.

Not true. Have tested. But I totally see them doing it - have you dealt with their support lately?

Recently, a bug in their system locked me out for 2 months (I had over $800 uber cash loaded from deals like this) and I don't have a car so I was screwed. No help from support, they took days to respond to each follow-up and only that their internal team was looking into it - I literally had to find the email of one of their executives on LinkedIn (Troy Stevenson), emailed him and he didn't respond but I got a call from a lady who fixed it in 2 days.

2 months. All I saw was "there was an error with your payment" - no matter what I did. Anyway, as soon as I got access back, just spent all my Uber Cash on groceries and booze pickup.

Can't trust Uber. Now a days you don't even get the horrendous (mostly overseas) support people . You just get an AI bot that won't connect you to a human no matter what. Past few times I've been taking Lyft or paying my niece to borrow her car :-(

The people stating that uber does not jack up prices once you load ubercash, just because it didn't happen to you, doesn't mean it's not true. I experienced an increase in price too between two devices and two separate accounts. After you toggle between ubercash and another form of payment, uber will eventually normalize the price (on the account with ubercash) but it will still be tad higher than the account without ubercash

Throwing out another data point. I still get the typical 40% off $25+ quite often even w/ frequent orders while maintaining a GC balance (I redeem them 1 at a time, not sure if small vs large balance factors in). I took a 2-3 month break from UE over the summer after scoring a deal on doordash gcs. UE started to send a bunch of multi-use 65% off deals for several weeks in a row following that, then went down to 50% off, then back to 40% so certainly order history does factor in to how promotional they are.

My general rule of thumb is to only use UE if it's cheaper than going to get it myself, even after what by SD standards would be a quite generous tip. 40% off + restaurant/item specific BOGO + 25% off the GC makes that quite easy.
