The Govee Outdoor Dots String Lights are a replacement for your standard C9 or C7 Christmas Lights, these lights have diffusers and are meant to be facing out away from the House or structure. The Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights Pro are attached to the soffit 4 inches from the brick, trim, siding or cladding. This will shine a pattern of lighting onto the house itself.
Just an FYI, there is a new mode called SceneStage for Govee lights which allows you to link together multiple sets of lights to have a coordinated show. For example - I have two sets of roof lights and 5 sets of curtains on windows.
It doesn't work for these lights, which is disappointing.

How are these compared to the "pro" version?

Does the entire length (100 ft for example) have to be placed as one single strip?
Can it be broken into separate pieces to place in separate disjoint segments AND still function as one continuous "strip" from the lighting perspective?

Beginner question -
Does the entire length (100 ft for example) have to be placed as one single strip?
Can it be broken into separate pieces to place in separate disjoint segments AND still function as one continuous "strip" from the lighting perspective?

I wish I could find more details on this option. I have the OG permanent lights, OG curtain lights, OG Christmas tree lights, flood lights and the new bush lights. Not able to find anything Scene Stage related.
I dislike how fast their new products come out. The permanent lights must have 4 vesrsion starting from the begining of 2023. Now I'm jealous I don't have warm whites and these features.

Per the description it is 2 x 50' sets, so you have 2 sets initially and then take that Reddit post and it sounds like you can make it more than 2

Personally for me these look way better. The reflection ones looks really dorky and doesn't have the traditional Christmas feel. Two questions.
1) can these be left installed permanently?
2) can the reflection be installed further away from from the wall so that it doesn't reflect?

It's definitely more for those who want lighting year-round, not just the holidays. You could install them at the very edge of the soffit, but the effect would be lost. You'd essentially just be lighting up the ground around the outside of your house. I drive by a house that has them installed after work each day and it actually looks quite nice, at least from a distance.

I would ASSUME that these--having built-in diffusion--wouldn't leave the weirdly unattractive IMO 'triangle glow' below each one if you point them downward on your soffit like the "pro" version does. The further from the wall you install them, the more diffused the light will be. That weird sharp triangle glow of the pro version is what has thus far kept me from installing these on my parents or in-laws' homes. They've also caught on a bit too quick and now every other house seems to have them.

Interesting item of note... For me anyway, the delivery option on these is showing overnight with hand delivery tomorrow morning. I've only had one other package this Christmas season from Amazon work like that and it was pretty much like Doordash where an individual delivers it instead of USPS or UPS.

You can cut anywhere. It requires 1 adapter to close the line off, then another to make the end you... [reddit.com]
