America's favorite lubricant that isn't actually a lubricant. Good for rust prevention, but not good for much else.
Works on hinges better than anything else

Does a pretty good job cleaning them so you can then use white lithium grease.

Much safer so "better" first choice.

Goof off is more effective but will take the plastic/paint/lacquer under the sticker with it too lol. I refinish furniture and I use goof off as a cheaper, readily available MEK alternative for cleaning stripper.

Xylene is cheap and between goo gone and goof off... effective but will likely remove more than intended.

Multi-use Wd-40 is a blend of lubricants.
Myth: WD-40 Multi-Use Product is not really a lubricant.

Fact: While the "W-D" in WD-40 stands for Water Displacement, WD-40 Multi-Use Product is a unique, special blend of lubricants. The product's formulation also contains anti-corrosion agents and ingredients for penetration, water displacement and soil removal.

And the government requisitioned the formula for some reason. Can't remember what for though

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

I switched from WD-40 to Walmart Super Tech penetrating lubricant [walmart.com] and can't tell any difference. The Walmart stuff has a lower cost per ounce at regular price than this deal. I love it when I find a store brand product I like just as well as the name brand product.

Why do you say WD-40 isn't a lubricant? It has solvent in it in addition to mineral oil, but it's most definitely still a lubricant. If you don't believe it, try breakdancing on a Linoleum floor sprayed with it.

It's a poor lubricant.
The slippery floor argument that you made about WD-40 could be made for butter. Would you use butter as lubricant?
