I ended up sifting through the manuals for both models, thanks to you for linking the website to each. It seems the Sam's model has the PS-WC67B subwoofer, which is slightly larger and heavier than the Walmart model's PS-WC45B (12lbs vs 8.8lbs respectively). I couldn't find any information on either beyond that (maybe my Google skills have gotten rusty).

The other noticeable difference I found in the documentation was the inclusion of DTS VIRTUAL:X on the Sam's model vs the lack of mention on the Walmart model. Not sure if that is a dealbreaker.

I'm inclined to believe that the Sam's model is mishmash of components from various inventory with firmware configured to play nicely together (obv I can't guarantee that's the case). That being said, adding the recommended rear setup to the Walmart model looks like it'd cost another $150 and a quick search between the SWA-9200s and SWA-9100 doesn't suggest much of a difference between both. I'm personally biting on the Sam's version for the $299 price it's at rn.

It's not fair to say getting a much more expensive sound bar is the obvious choice.

Something like a sound bar, regardless of it being $100 or $500+, it will most definitely sound better than stock tv speakers.

I say, get what fits in your budget. I habe a lower end vizeo sound bar from like 10 years ago, sounds wayy better than stock tv speakers. Overdoing it on sound bar speakers seems easy to do, basic ones will suffice for most people, just my opinion

I tried the S2 and ended up returning it since it didn't offer comparable sound to this Samsung soundbar.

Disagree. I bought both and tested them. Bose 550 blows the Samsung out of the water. It has a much cleaner sound. Also was able to connect a non-Bose subwoofer I had to it and it sounds fantastic. The soundbar gets surprisingly loud for its size.
Agreed. The Bose 550 is fantastic for its size and under $200. Mine is in a bedroom so I don't want heavy bass, just want crisp dialog with no distortion at higher volume. Get the Samsung if you want a soundbar with a sub. Adding a sub to the Bose will more than double the price.

I just ordered the Bose 550 for my bedroom over this as it's quite a bit smaller and I have flat ceilings that might be able to take advantage of the upfiring speakers, where as in my living room it probably wouldn't make much difference as the ceiling is vaulted.

If I were in your situation though, I'd say you likely have the room with an 85" TV. If your TV is new enough and you can use the Q Symphony since it is Samsung (using your TV speakers along with the soundbar), especially with the addition of a subwoofer, I'd probably go with the Samsung.

I have a 75" U75K in my living room, and I'm also still considering picking one of these up for that room to replace an old polk 2.1 I have out there since I have the room for it.
Thanks. Yeah, I returned the Bose and I was able to get a good deal on a Samsung Ultra Slim 3.1 HW-S700D [samsung.com]. With current discount and EPP plus convincing an agent to give me extra 10%. was able to get it for $252 + tax.

That would be extra 300, is it really worth it?
NOT AT ALL! I got the Samsung Q990C for that price last year - $589. Once you are in that price range its not worth it at all.

HW-Q60C is 3.1, same model as this one. This is just the Walmart SKU I think.

HW-Q600C is 3.1.2 with upfiring atmos speakers and I think some advanced modes on the soundbar for dialogue.

How is this compared to Sonos Arc Ultra? And would this work well with a 100"? 🍻

I have the Q600B (open box for $150) and I bought the rear channels for $100. The Vizio 5.1 sound bar I had that was $229 from Costco did much better in sound amplitude. I actually added a second subwoofer from optical out to RCAs to a sub for my setup to help. Careful some Samsungs don't allow the rear channels to be added later. For what they deliver they are way overpriced as you add more channels.
