I have had XM3 and 4, and I can confidently tell you the SQ is exactly the same. NC might even be a bit better because it uses a newer chipset. If you don't turn on the ULT button, it has marginally more bass.

I almost bought these last time I saw them, but after doing some Google-fu, they seem like a downgrade from the older XM4s.
