There is a 'no vr' mod I think. I just got a headset so I'm going to try it out. But if the quality from streaming to the headset is too low, then I'm going to check out the 'no vr' mod.

I second this. I bought it and got the No VR mod on my Steam Deck (installing it is easy if you follow a short How To video). The mod works really well and the controls feel like any other console game, without too many oddities.

I'm tempted to buy it. But wondering if it's scary. I don't play horror games at all. And any horror in VR is bound to be worse. Those of you who have played it, would you categorize it as an action game or an horror game?

It's primarily an action game, though there are some tense/stressful moments. There is at least one scene that could be considered a "horror" scene. But that scene also happens to be one of the most memorable video game experiences of the decade. The same could be said of the whole game, really. It remains, to this day, the absolute pinnacle of VR gaming.

But being the pinnacle of the platform comes with one very big downside, and I say the same thing every time a deal on this game is posted: this game will probably ruin you for all other VR games. Nothing else comes close.

It's been two years since I played this game on my Oculus, it's absolutely true that that this game is so good it ruins everything else on that platform.. haven't touched my headset since 😞

Yeah definitely! I ask myself the same question. Nothing I have played before or since Alyx has measured up. Kind of sad really. VR is not getting enough love from AAA developers.
