Do not order from this company. I fell for it on the last deal and it has been an absolute nightmare.

The first bike arrived damaged and unusable. They refused to honor their return policy, insisting that I either repair it myself (they sent me a link to a YouTube video wtf) or bring it to a mechanic at my own risk. Suffice to say, I opened a credit card dispute and am still fighting to retain my credit.

The second bike hadn't been shipped when the issues with the first began, so I requested a cancellation, which they confirmed. Then they shipped it anyway. I refused the delivery. It arrived at their facility 2 weeks ago and I still haven't received a refund. Another dispute was opened and I'm having to deal with that now.

Edit: just checked and the first dispute was finally resolved in my favor just this morning. Now on to the second dispute…

Stay as far away from Mendham Bikes as you can. HORRIBLE company. I trust SD's and have never been burned....until the last Mendham deal. It's been a horrendous and miserable experience that has cost a dozen or so hours thus far.

I ordered one of the Able bikes in the last deal. About three weeks went by between the time of the order and when I realized I hadn't received the bike. Meanwhile, they spammed the heck out of my email account with other "promotions". I emailed the general customer service email address demanding they provide me an update. No response. About another week goes by and I get a "your order shipped" email notification. Great! Fantastic! Except that a few hours after receiving that email, I got a retraction saying they had made a mistake and my order hadn't shipped.

I emailed them to demand cancellation of the order based on the long wait and my spidey senses telling me something was off. I actually got a response within a few hours that acknowledged my request and told me the order would be cancelled. Guess what? The next day, Mendham shipped the bike. Geez. When I got the shipment notification, I started checking the tracking and noticed it took them more than a day to actually ship the bike (they just issued tracking by creating a shipping label). In the interim, I again emailed them about cancellation and warned them not to ship. No response. The bike arrived and box and interior parts were beat to hell. I put in a dispute with my credit card company, who immediately issued a confirmation of successful dispute, a sign they know what Mendham is up to. I tried several more times to demand they take the bike back. They finally responded on the third email and asked for a huge list of items. I took the bike to a charity that fixes up bikes and gives to kids in need. I'll just rely on my CC underwriter.

Please save yourself from the same headaches and from having to write an equally painful testimonial on SD by just skipping this "deal". It's not a deal and if you research online, you find the bikes are junk anyways.

It's mid-drive. They require substantially less power than hub drives. They also tend to be more expensive than hub drives.

I took mine to my local bike shop on Friday and they just pulled it out of the box and found that the fork was damaged.
That does not bode well. Considering that only 3 people on this thread have reported receiving their bikes and 2 out of those 3 have reported fork damage. That's not good odds. Especially since that commenter on YouTube reported 2 bikes with bad forks too.

I expressed concern about the 10 day return window and he said since I talked to him "it's good" and that I "don't need to worry about it".
I would email or chat with them if possible and get that in writing.

Well that stinks! It shouldn't matter what their policy is on who pays for return shipping. If they delivered a defective bike then it is their responsibility to make it right. - on their dime. If they cannot do that, then they'll need to provide you with a prepaid return label.
That's what they say in their policies, but you can find posts from people who said that didn't happen. So they had to do chargebacks on their credit cards.

It baffles me that companies send out easily damaged goods without adequate packing. The customer service and replacement costs have got to outweigh the cost of packing them correctly.
Especially since this is Kent. It's not a small mom and pop. People have reported that this is dropped ship from Kent. It's one thing to buy a clearance bike at 70% off and get this level of care. But why would I ever buy a new bike at full MSRP from Kent knowing that this is what to expect?

Yepp. They sent me a UPS tracking number, but linked it to FedEx:

If yours starts with "1Z" try copy/pasting the tracking number into UPS: https://www.ups.com/track?loc=en_...uester=ST/.
Okay I called Mendham up and found out what happened. The provided tracking# is indeed FedEx but what happened was the 5th digit was missing a zero. They emailed me the corrected tracking number and it shows up now.

It looks like my order shipped from FLORENCE, SC -- I'm assuming from South Carolina. Is that where everyone else is seeing for their orders?

It's not just required by FedEx. It's required by law. It's illegal to ship something with a lithium ion battery without them. I'm dismayed that a big company like Kent does not comply with the law.
Correct. We transport battery backup storage systems and our vehicles are required to have special signage in case of an accident. The batteries also need to be shipped at sub 30% capacity if I recall correctly as well.

I requested our return shipping labels have the proper lithium signage. Also I asked how they would like me to drain the packs down to the correct charge level. I was told not to worry about anything and just put the bikes back in the old nearly falling apart boxes...

Hi, any updates on your bike? Received, assembled already, any pictures of the shipping box and/or bike packaging?

Finally got mine. Kinda dinged up because of Fedex (they are the worst), but happy for the price. It was able to climb the monster 30% hill on my ranch with some pedaling.
Any more to report on how the bike works? How are the brakes, speed, any motor noise, lights?

Received mine yesterday. Box was kind of dinged up allover but the bike is free of any scratch although it was a pain in the butt to remove it out of the box without damaging the front wheel spokes.

Also, I do feel that the reason, one of them had a front fork out of alignment may be shipping damage since the front fork lays flat on the bottom of cardboard without any foam/support. If it isn't handled gently, just the sheer weight could make it go out of alignment.

I am also surprised that there is no instruction on the assembly for such an expensive bike if someone wishes to do it themselves instead of going to a shop.

In the process of assembling it. I am almost done although I feel the front wheel kind of rubbing against the brake disk. I am hoping that i have assembled the front brake caliper right since it was mostly trial and error although its firmly attached(photo attached). Can someone who received their post a photo of their front caliper to see if I have the right assembly.

Looks to me like only half the pad is engaging the disc. I'd try flipping that black piece between the brake and the fork to see if the caliper lines up better with the disc in the other orientation.

BTW, I just checked the Mendham site and they've raised the price so after the coupon the price is now $742.50. That's a big nope for me buying a second one…

My first bike arrived today. Box was trashed. Fork had punched through the box. Broken rear reflector, but only a few minor scuffs mostly on the fork. Pretty surprising that it survived with such minor damage. Box appeared to be original but may have been previously opened. It was strapped up with box bands.

Inside, the bike had foam and cardboard with zip ties. You can tell the bike had been sitting around for years with the dust on the box and the condition of the interior packaging.

Bike went together without any issue. The battery, however, came completely dead. It's on the charger now. We'll see if it wakes up and is healthy once it comes off the charger.

out of curiosity, where did your tracking number show it was shipped from? South Carolina or New Jersey?

Looking at your picture, maybe try remove the 2 spacers between the two pieces.

My second order of 2 bikes to replace the first order of damaged ones shipped from California. So instead of 1 day in transit its gonna be over a week. At least this time it was UPS and not FedEx

okay, FedEx just delivered. Packaging came in the original manufacturer's box but top wasn't stapled -- box was held together with 3 white packing strips. The left crank arm was buried into the front wheel spoke so that took some doing to get loose. I see what people mean about putting pressure there. Packaging seems okay -- definitely could be better.

I'm also having some problems with the fork, it's misaligned and the front rotor ends up rubbing against the spot where you normally mount the caliber. Some things I've noticed, front rotor is 180mm, rear rotor is 160mm. The chain might be a KMC X-series chain which is a step up from the usual Z-series.
But my main issue is that I can't put the front wheel on without it rubbing against the fork's caliper mount.
