The 5th gen 11" cellular is a much better deal at $499.99. Only 64gb, but if you don't need more than that the M1 chip is still great.

I'm a consistent Apple user, and shareholder; I think these prices, even clearance prices, are going to move very, very slowly. I've had two Air models, I think I won't be buying Airs anymore.

Me too, except I bought both a 13" M4 Pro and a 13" Air. So there is that if you want to be 100% anecdotal.

But…if you want to make factual statements then, as an Apple shareholder I'm sure you know iPad sales growth just had its best quarter since 1Q 2023. Of course Apple does not announce sales volume by model, but it's safe to assume the sales growth was caused by its two newest models — the Air and M4 Pro.

For those who enjoy tablets the Air and Pro are great models. Add a keyboard case (I use Logitech's because Apple's is a bit too spendy) it's a very close laptop experience plus touch screen, something the Apple laptops don't offer.
To someone saying 'close to laptop experience', I'm gonna say liar liar pants on fire.. Either you are a complete laptop illiterate or just trolling or probably a fully certified illiterate who uses laptops for tiktok.

Also the fact that you choose to bring up Apple sales numbers and stockholder BS and the fact that you say you use Logitech KB which is a heavy as a brick tells me you are a complete liar.

Having said that, try to buy a cellular model compared to wifi if price is right.

Sure, convince me I'm wrong by spitting insults at me rather than facts. I mentioned the sales facts ONLY because the OP of the thread I was responding to was suggesting iPad sales were going to decline because he didn't like their prices. I was using actual sales facts to refute his position.

As for me personally, say what you want, and I'll smile because I don't know you from jacksh.... But my house is a virtual Apple showroom, including an M4 MacBook Pro, so yes, I do know what a real laptop experience is, and I still need that which is why I still use Macs in addition to iPads. Also been using Apple products since the early 80s and a Mac owner since '88 so I have plenty of experience with Apple OSes and products.

My point was the keyboard case w/ trackpad gives the iPad a MORE laptop experience it previously did not have. It's slightly below the level of a low end MacBook Air only because iPad OS doesn't have a good file system and relies more on iCloud. Apple's addition of trackpad support was a game changer though as far as being able to use the iPad for light productivity tasks.

As for the Logitech's weight, it's actually about the same as Apple's Magic Keyboard. I don't travel with it, it sits on my breakfast table, so weight is a non-factor for me, for regardless, if someone wants a convertible laptop the case + iPad weighs about the same as a MacBook Air. The Logitech has its weak points, but so does the Magic Trackpad.

The M2 128GB model is $499 so that's the better deal for sure.

64 GB not enough. You will run out of space really fast.

Depends on your use case. 64GB is plenty for me. Our iPad isn't even close to using all 64GB (going on 3 years of useage).

Just depends on if you need cellular, or double the hard drive space. I agree that most people don't need cellular so for those people, yes, the M2 at $500 is the better deal. This slick deals post was all about Cellular models which is why I suggested the M1

Yes but this is the celluar version of the ipad. The incentive is to take it with you on the go and get a GPS signal. When you do that, you realize you need your phone for hotspot data. When you do that, you realize you need either a bigger cellular hotspot data plan or download all your spotify songs (if you plan to utilize your iPad as a carplay screen, which makes sense if you came this far) Downloading Spotify songs, you'll run out of space.

Or....I can also get downvoted from people who don't understand the reason for a cellular iPad.
