Maybe I'm foolish, but I trust that Apple will be around much longer than me or my Blu-rays, as much as I love them. Nothing is guaranteed in life, of course, but I've never had any of my digital movies taken away. I have, however, had some of my Blu-rays lost or scratched or rotted (yes, discs can "rot"). Many of my HD-DVDs are ruined due to rot.

tell that to people that bought movies and shows on prime or netflix...
Unless you're one of them, you've been misinformed. If you purchase a movie it is saved to library for streaming… so again unless there is a lawsuit they cannot make your purchase disappear.
I think you're mixing streaming movies/tv with subscription service vs buying digital media.
Jesus...does the physical vs digital debate need to come up every time someone posts about a digital deal?? Stop it.
You should see the clothing or food threads. Every single time someone offers their opinion on polyester and sugar being poison. Disgusting. Hell there was a thread on socks for runners and some idiot kept chiming in on how 100% cotton is far superior. Or that one time where another mouth breather said 100% merino is superior to moisture wicking.
Almost every smart TV has AppleTV app. Roku, FireTV, Android, etc all have AppleTV app as well.
While true, on Android you can only watch Apple TV+ content, not purchases like this. An odd limitation, but a big sticking point for many Android users.
You can view purchases on other platforms, including Google TV.

My only worry would be a government splitting Apple TV from Apple, and then the TV/media offshoot shutting down. Can't image that happening anytime in the next decade or three though.

Doesn't GoogleTV just run Android apps? You should be able to view it via a browser on Android? Not optimal, but still possible. Looks like it has same restriction to just the TV+ streaming. Bummer.

US govt won't. EU probably will though. Just means no digital media for EU see what happened to iPhone 14
