Since when is something with a 4-ft cord considered "cordless"?

Whenever "CEOs" and deceptive marketing are in charge of product branding... Always a scam. Should have been called battery/portable or something else.

I imagine it would be significantly more difficult to control the actual rotary tool if the V20 battery was directly attached to it

I used to own a small on board battery powered dremel type tool. It was nearly useless from the start, unmanageable and difficult to see what you were doing.

No worries. It's just a "transitory" cord.

Cordless meaning it's not tied to mains voltage at the wall. Lots of products are marketed as cordless when they have a tethered battery like this.
Would you expect a product labeled "wireless" to not have wires inside??

Since you don't need to be near an outlet i guess. Reminds me of those old wireless earbuds with the wire between them you had to drape around the back of your neck

No but I would expect something labeled cordless to not have a cord on the outside.
You know like a cordless drill that has no cords on the outside or cordless Sawzall no cords.
I believe his point was manufacturers can just say their product is cordless when it certainly is not.
It may be portable but certainly it is not cordless if it is connected to a cord.
when cordless telephones came out they would not have been called cordless if they had a cord they would just be called phones

I have this, perfectly fine to use but I actually prefer a lower powered one(bulkier Ryobi) as it's less noisy. I actually went on a silly spree of buying various cordless rotary tools for trimming my dogs nails to try to find the best one I could bring outside.
For what it's worth: Milwaukee (m12), Craftsman, Ryobi is my ranking of most powerful to least but for a dogs nails I recommend the reverse order(as that list is also loudest to quiet). A corded dremel probably is similar to the milwaukee, but less noisy. My favorite dog trimming tool was actually the dremel minimite but the batteries are terrible outdated nimh (so obviously don't get that), just a shame they never made newer batteries for that thing.

Don't tell Luigi about those "CEOs" you speak of

the limit of the cord approaches 0 when it's length approaches infinity.
