This brings back memories how 10-15 years ago Staples frequently gave back 100% in rewards on Duracell batteries. I got more than I could use and put them in a box thinking I'm covered for years because most of the batteries had dates 5-10 years in the future. I used a few packages. Unfortunately well before the date printed on each sealed package, every package of Duracells leaked. I lost a couple dozen packages of unused batteries. I considered seeing if I could get replacements from Duracell even though I only paid tax for them. Instead I decided to take it as a lesson never to buy another Duracell battery. Later I bought some Kirkland batteries and they leaked. Then I found out they were Duracell so no more Kirklands either. By contrast I've had very few Energizers leak. Guess which brand I buy now?
So unless you use your Duracell batteries very quickly, I wouldn't bother.

All of the Staples stores around me having closed and gone out of business really kills it.

I feel dumb. How does tax kill it? Still seems like a good deal to me.

I haven't played with staples rewards in a while. Is there a good way to cash them out still like back with rebates?

Is this true? Asking because all 100% back deals over the years have been for Duracell, and Duracell is pictured. Did you get rewards for other brands?
Duracell leaks. Replace before leaking

Great deal. Repped.

P.S. Note to OP: Just because they use a pic of Duracell batteries on the "Activate Offer" page, does not mean only Duracells are qualified. If I were you I would remove reference to that brand being the only batteries for this deal. I cannot say with certainty that they carry Energizer, et al, but if they do sell other brands, those would qualify. Maybe you know for a fact they only carry Duracells in stores though...

Like many others here, I have had the 'leak' issue with Duracell batteries (though not with their Optimum series). I have been wondering if getting the Sanyo Eneloop rechargeables is the long term solution in investing for good quality batteries. Thoughts or recommendations? TIA
Just an isolated case but I was on a streak of buying wireless mice anf keyboards for cheap, you get a share of leaks with these thrift store deals but one keyboard that used rechargeable AAs had Eneloops adn it's still going strong. If I wasn't so cheap or caught a sale I would own some.

Office Depot deals have always been for Duracells.
Staples has not run a promotion like this in a long while. The promotion states ALL BATTERIES. I have not been yet. So if they sell other brands I would rather buy energizers. I just never shop batteries at Staples since they seldom have deals like this.
Don't forget to price match.

No, those days are gone. Probably a decade ago. I usually get household supplies from them. Good thing is with new points system, you can bank them for bigger purchase than worrying about rewards expiry.

Can you use giftcards? I have a LOT of giftcards.com gc and right now Staples is 10% off, so this might be a good deal -- epecially on specialty batteries.
Yes, can use staples gift cards.

Try it yourself. Points are instant. Worst case, return on the spot.

I remember them, I still have few of the freebies that came with those batteries - letter opener, screwdriver and couple others I can't remember.

These always leak and ruin electronics.
They leak if they are left alone or used passively. Won't leak if drained actively.
Storage - leaks - keep separately
Clocks/remotes - no - slow drain and will leak
Kids toys actively used - yes - they'll run out in a month
kids toys forgotten in corner - leaks - been burned couple times
everyday use speakers - yes
You can still get use out of them for heavy use items or remember to remove if not in use.

As others have said, Duracell batteries are absolute garbage!! They are highly prone to leaks. I have had numerous electronics destroyed, thanks to Duracell batteries.

Is the $10 off $30 the one that prints with receipt? Wondering if I can buy something cheap to get this coupon for the battery purchase...
