I just watched an extremely knowledgeable person on youtube last night regarding setting up an entire solar system. I'm going to re-watch his videos again (the one I watched was from 6 or 9 mo ago... and about 36 min long (or something like that). He goes over EVERYTHING, thoroughly, with regards to what you will need, gauge wire, and more importantly (for me) the WHY you need this or that.

His youtube name is: cityprepping

EDIT: the company i contract for blocks youtube on their network so I wasn't able to link when I posted.

Here is the link to the video:

When I build lifepo4 packs, my goal is $100/kwh. This beats that! Impressive

Nov sale got 2 plastic one and 2 metal one. Metal one believe to be the same as DC House 165Ah even its label said 150Ah.

Ran full capacity test twice against each version. Here are the result. Plastic version has capacity 149Ah vs metal version capacity as 161Ah with 33-14A little over 0.2c.

Plastic version seams to have worse voltage drifting above 3.45v and ends with single cell over voltage protection above 3.65v to cutoff charging while metal version has very low voltage deviation among 4 cells even after 3.5v and ends with 14.35v set in bench power supply w/o single cell over voltage. So myself liked metal version more than plastic version based on charge curve alone.

The only con for metal is the weight 9lb heavier than plastic one. Metal case also can be stacked provided you put one 1 inch thick wood in between due to the handle on the top

LiFePO4 cells have gotten a lot cheaper recently if anyone hasn't been keeping track.
You can get cells for ~$70/kWh shipped now on Alibaba, but this really isn't a bad price for a prebuilt battery at ~$84/kWh.

$670 for 7.5 Kilowatt hour 48 volt power wall setup is not bad! with 4 BMS's too. Makes it pretty idiot proof to run in series. Could be used for solar storage or a large golf cart ATV /EV.

What's the deal with the bluetooth monitoring? Is the bluetooth protocol documented, or do you have to use their app?

Is it always consuming power (powering the bluetooth chip)? It's a very minuscule amount of power for BLE, but who knows if they screw it up it might not be so minuscule. Is it just Bluetooth advertisements or more?

Onboard BT on BMS, always on, doesn't appear to affect natural discharge much at all...'miniscule' is an apt term. Can use either EW generic app or Overkill Solar app. More info in the prior thread:

Hello everyone, looking for advice from someone since it was already mentioned. I currently have a 36 volt golf cart EZGO lifted. The batteries in it now are 6 (6 volt) batteries. I'm looking to upgrade to lithium but wanted to know how many would I need and if these would work for my setup. Would I need 3 of these since they are 12 volt to equal my 36 volts and would I have to do anything else since they are in series? (Inverter or wire they differently?) Thank you for any help!

3 of these will work, but if you have larger than the standard 18" tires, then the 120A BMS in these might not be enough. With 3 of these, the wiring would be the same, except that some of the battery cables might need to be replaced with longer ones, since they'd be going to different points with only 3 batteries.

You could do 6 of these batteries and wire it up with two sets of three in parallel (that would give you 240 amps, which I'd expect to be fine, even with larger tires), but you would need some additional battery cables to do that, and these are larger than golf cart batteries, so 6 might not fit in. Depending on what model of EZGO you have, it could be tricky to even fit 3 of these in.

Same code also works on the DCHouse metal case version of you prefer it to the plastic case.

Well worth the slight cost increase for those using in mobile applications, imo.
Anyone else with input on this battery? Looks to be worth the few extra bucks for some more Ah?

I have the Ecoworthy version of this battery (see link posted above) which has 150AH on the battery label, but BMS reports 165AH. Naturally I haven't done a full capacity test due to all the holidays, but others have reported the BMS should be correct. This manufacturer is marketing these products under many names...EcoWorthy, DCHouse, Apollo, and LITHINENG, and there is a growing volume of experience with this manufacturer, on solar forums and on Youtube, etc.

Yes. All lifepo4 12.8V battery sizes will work, limiting factor is weight/cost.

I used the 100AH version of these as a drop in replacement for my Ryobi Zero turn that came with lead acid batteries. They work fantastic and are so much lighter. The only other thing I had to do was change to a charger that works with these (htrc worked for me and used the existing port). 100AH was overkill for my yard, I have about 2/3 of an acre lot and can mow 5-6 times before the battery is discharged to around 20% when I charge it back up.
That's impressive. What htrc model do you charge them up with?

One image shows 1920Wh. How do they get that figure, since 12V * 150Ah = 1800 Wh.

Is the voltage actually higher than 12V at the beginning of the discharge cycle?

Thanks

No, they are not made for high cold cranking amps
