Ok, so a lot of questions above, and not many clear answers, so trying to help, here it goes:

- This is a single computer / multiple small devices Battery Backup, for about 5-10min runtime
- If you have an automatic generator, this is all you need is those 5min for the generator to kick in and keep things stable in the 30sec-2min cutover
- This will happily run an ISP modem/router for 30min+
- This is NOT enough for a desktop + Unifi setup (DM, PoE Switch with draw and APs), you want at least 1000Va if you want 5min, 1500Va if you want 15min+, very roughly. I recommend using a runtime calculator if you need specifics
- If your device beeps occasionally or the battery "doesn't last long, like a year", it's likely because either A) a bad battery, or B) frequent draws on the battery either through unstable utility power or overloading the draw of the device has worn the battery down faster than it should (don't plug vacuums/heaters/fans/etc into battery backups, folks)
- This is an EOL model but they will support all existing devices through their warranty, and APC is historically good at this - they are getting out of the low-end market though

Hope this helps people!

I got something similar a year or so ago and it beeps every so often. Is this normal behavior for UPS'?

I would pass on this. I bought one from B&H last month and it came with a quality assurance receipt taped to the side of the unit, suggesting it was refurbished, despite no mention of this being a refurb item in the description. The receipt was dated sometime in summer of 2023, which means the battery was at least 1.5 years old if not older when I received it. See the 1- and 2-star reviews on B&H where other customers talk about similar experiences.

I would pass on this go for the non-discontinued BE600M1, which as far as I can tell is almost identical. I'm pretty sure the replacement batteries will be the same once the time comes.

I do not have a ground connection on my outlet. Can I replace the outlet with a GFCI outlet and then use the UPS even though there is no ground?

Probably not. I think the gfi would trip without a ground. Try one of those 2 prong to three prong adapters first.

Essential imo for 3d printing...16 hours into a 20 hour print and the power pops on and off...nightmare.

If you could at least see what layer to resume at later you could cut the object etc.

I've had this for about 3 or 4 years now. Use it to power my modem and router during power outages. Still works pretty well. The max I've gotten out of it is about an hour and a half to two hours.

In for one. I've been using these for years for modems, routers, network switches, security camera base stations, etc. The last one I bought was about 5 years ago and the unit just started beeping to replace the battery. I ordered a replacement battery on Amazon for it, and needed another so I jumped on this. I've bought plenty of PC parts from B&H over the last few years and their customer service was great on the one instance of an issue I was facing. I'm hopeful not to get a unit with an older manufacturing date, but if I do they probably won't hassle me on a return. Thanks OP!

This may be a dumb question... and I apologies in advance if it is. Can I use this has a battery backup for my sump pump in the case of a power outage?

I use it to power the modem and router. The internal battery runs them for less than an hour, which is way shorter than the average repair time of power outages in my area.
So I hacked the UPS by adding a cheap car battery in parallel.

Is this sufficient to keep the internet router on long enough for a backup generator to kick on?
Don't use this to plug a router or a modem
Get a lithium ion powerbank with 12v output, and Y cable. There is a model Amazon made for modem router. It can also charge phones.
It's a lot more durable than a UPS, it's 10x smaller, can fit in a pocket, and last 2x longer. That's what I have been using.
You can use this UPS for something else

No, sump pumps use a large amount of power/amps especially at startup. Depending on the size of the pump you will probably need something that can do 1200-1800 watts. This can only do 360.

Also for people wondering APC does a real good job of telling you the run time of something on their ups. https://www.apc.com/us/en/product...s-2-surge/ Scroll to the bottom of the page and it will give you an estimate based upon the wattage.

Finally one thing to note about run times. For the longest run time you want the smallest inverter with the biggest battery. Typically the larger units have bigger batteries which is why they last longer. Just don't go out and buy a 1500w unit to power a 5w modem. The conversion inefficiency of the larger inverter will be vastly larger than the draw of the modem.

For example
https://www.apc.com/us/en/product...rk-backup/

This unit backed up my parents modem and telephone and has a battery 1/2 the size of the apc unit above but gets around the same run time of 1.5 to 2 hours.
