anyone played this before?
Been playing 2 on Game Pass on Xbox, I'm enjoying it enough that I'll go back and give this a try when done. 2 reminds me of the Far Cry games in a way (though you have to get some way in to the game before guns become available, it's definitely more about melee weapons), not sure about 1.

I've played this a few times. Definitely more fun with friends but the story isn't half bad and if you like zombie games this could be a nice cheap fix. Definitely holds up considering it came out 13 years ago.

Played this a few years back with a friend, was pretty solid, esp if you like zombie FPS games with a touch of survival mechanics and crafting. It's basically a precursor to the Dying Light franchise.

I've played it through a couple of times back in the day (I believe the 2nd is pretty much more of the same from what I've read). Definitely is designed with co-op in mind (at least one other person). At this price, buy a few copies and play with friends. And yeah, I feel ya on the far cry thing. Tried playing the first dead island by myself and it was boring as hell on your own.

Even though DI2 has better graphics and engine, I enjoyed dead island 1 more. 2 was a downgrade in some areas with character development IMHO. Also DI1 has full 4 player coop with actual RPG lite trees for each character, not only 3 player coop and dumb card system which I didn't care for which did not differentiate the characters enough. I would love a DI1 remake with the DI2 engine.
