Two-wheels are sturdier. If you look at the bags that the crew carry, they are usually two-wheel type.

Spinners all the way. You want something that wanders off at the slightest slope. No greater excitement than finding your luggage out in traffic because it didn't stay where you put it! The smaller volume teaches minimalism, and the broken wheels give you a weekend fix-it project. Also, the price per wheel is way better when you have more of them.

Sitting here at the gate for a flight to Hong Kong, so I checked - crew all have 2 wheelers. Personally, I far prefer spinners. Just providing you with some scientific data.

I prefer a spinner flying international, when stuck on long customs lines, it's a lot easier to just push a bag through than have to tilt and pull it 5000 times. And I've done 2 hour customs lines wishing I took a spinner. 2 wheels is not a deal breaker for me, they are great for some trips, I just tend to pick the bag that suits the circumstance, from experience.

isn't a 22 inch too big for a carry-on?
For Europe yes, and from what I've heard about frontier, probably too big too, though I've never considered flying on that airline.

For me, spinners are a must for carry-on. Isle width is pretty narrow to maneuver without rolling in sideways

Travel extensively. Used both. Two wheels for me! Definitely pros and cons for both. I found the two wheels are simpler mechanism therefore more stable or less likely to break. Especially easier on European cobblestones.

This. If you're just going from a taxi into the smooth airport spinner is better. The two wheels are better for all terrain. If you notice all employees of public transportation (regional rail systems) use the two wheels.

I've had this bag (or whatever preceded it that is virtually identical) for at least 15 years. Yeah, the omni-directional wheels are sometimes a pain but the damn thing is sturdy and has been a champ.

Light-packing business travelers probably do well with spinners -- you don't miss the extra space, and you're just on smooth surfaces. If you *travel* travel, the durability of two wheels is really nice.

I love the wheel debate in here. I'm in the 2 wheel camp.

Which collection from Travelpro is the lightest? I usually go on long trips and am an over packer, so looking for the lightest checked in luggage. Thanks.

Not necessarily better. Pros and cons with each.
Exactly. I don't use them but they would probably be pretty handy if you have a lot of bags or have to manage family travel. You could, for example, place them back to back and move a couple of bags with just one hand. They're a little easier to maneuver than rollaboards.

I'd worry about the wheels but I don't see much in the way of complaints about them prematurely snapping off. However, you do lose space in the bag compared to rollaboards where the wheels are recessed into the bag shell. TravelPro have sold some spinner models where they recapture some of that space by extending the bag in the space between the wheels, but I don't think every model is like that.

I used mine between the US and the Europe over 100 times with no issues with any carriers. I love these.

Just bought two more for my teens. Great deal.

My Maxlite 5 25" rollaboard is a bit under seven pounds. For comparison, the Walkabout 2 22" I also use is an older model and weighs about the same.

I was recently at Nordstrom Rack and I looked at the Travelpro Pilot Air 2 for $124, but I didn't bite. Then Woot offered the similar Travelpro Maxlite rollerboard recently for $70, and I still didn't bite.

Well, this time I bit! Shipping to California was a steep $22, though.
