It's far different than a Kitchenaid (I have an 8qt Commercial & a 7qt bowl-lift) as it's all plastic and the Kitchenaids are all metal/cast aluminum and the drivetrain is surely 'lighter duty', but for mixing batter, cookie & cake mixes and anything except heavy doughs it should perform well.
I've seen test reviews of near-identical clones of the Pioneer Woman mixers that did far better than expected. For $62 I'm very tempted to get one just for small-batch & light-duty mixing.
That being said, KitchenAid stuff is not bullet proof; if you use your mixer frequently, you will likely need to change a bevel or worm gear at one time or another.

edit: strike that, i thought she had a channel named pioneer woman cooks or something like that but I'm not seeing it
I'd probably go with Kitchen-Aid of something higher end, because appliances like this fall under the category of "buy once, cry once" products. But this isn't a bad deal for what it is.

One of the reviewer for the Pioneer Woman mixer wrote this mixer is weaker than their Kitchenaid. The most powerful $1000 Kitchenaid is only 500W, vs. this one with 600W.
How is this possible? Is it just built poorly?
A 600W mixer should be very powerful.

if you put your bicycle in 5th gear and try to pedal it, it seems like your legs are pretty weak and incapable of moving you along very much. if you put it in first gear, your legs seem strong, but you go pretty slow. I think the same principle probably applies here. It just doesn't have the correct gears to utilize the 600 w power at a slow pace with a lot of strength...

You have a lot to learn, as the "modern times" isn't the 'step up' you may think it is.
Ones with your same mindset used to laugh at the 'old ways' until they later eventually wised up and found that some of the best foods and ways of cooking (and much more) come from 'pioneer era' methods and cookware.
For instance, that's why there's a huge market and well-informed ppl will spend big bucks in buying 100 yr old Griswold, Wapak, and countless other past manufacturer's cast iron skillets & cookware. Well-informed people are putting them to daily use, as even famous modern era chefs have shown them that the modern era cookware can't even duplicate the incredible level of taste of many dishes cooked in this 'pioneer age' cookware.
