I really do want this for the Xbox but the price is just insanity. Think I'd rather go with the Costco SanDisk 2TB Extreme Portable SSD deal and suck up the need to transfer back and forth.

No kidding...$300 for a 512gb Series S only to learn it has only about 350gb usable (not listed on official specs) and then you learn that expansion storage is 2-3x normal price.

Thankfully cloud gaming works decently well.

While I definitely agree with that the proprietary price gouging is infuriating, the $189 price for 2tb isn't that much more than what I paid for the 2tb NVMe upgrade for my PS5 not long ago. Additionally, a certain CB site that begins with an "R" is offering 10% CB for purchasing through the Sandisk site or if you're you're a Discover card user, you may have received an e-mail for an additional $15 credit for making Discover your default payment method through Amazon which is what I just did. However to avoid getting flamed, I reiterate the Discover thing is definitely YMMV.

idk dude i upgraded a year ago $115 for a 2 tb stick ps5

I mean, I upgraded my PS5 with a 4TB SSD for $230 last year, so this is still just boggling

I paid 127 for a 4tb SSD through Amazon over a year ago (a Chinese brand drive but the speed was acceptable and the size matched what was listed)

If you do have disposable income, this is likely the best price in a while since the price drops just happened. M.2 2230 form factor SSD's are significantly more expensive than 2280's making this cost roughly $50 more than the bare card itself.

I've been avoiding getting this for almost 3 years because of the price gouge and after finally getting it, I wish I got it sooner to avoid all the disk swapping. I have a stack of 2.5" SSD's that I connect to a USB drive and this made life much easier on the management side.

Still trying to find a way to get rid of those stack of SSD's.

Are WD Expansions better quality than Seagates? My 2TB Seagate, which I paid $300 for, is already failing, causing my Xbox to hang on boot and stutter in games. Maybe I'm just unlucky.

I've had considerably better luck with WD than Seagate with HDD's. So I'd bet they are better
