I reckon that you won't find a 17" laptop better than this at this price or even $100 more.
So, I'd say this a really good deal.

The Doc (OP) is right - This is a good deal. Comps for used are ~+150 / New is +300 at least

As always, it depends on what your laptop use case is, but for a general use laptop, the specs are hard to beat
17.3" IPS Touchscreen that folks seem to really like
Easily Expandable -- RAM to 64GB
13700H is efficient and still quite fast w/ good single/multi speed*
Nice design especially if you still dig the original "MacBook Pro" look

Other retailers with higher prices have loads of reviews (4.8 across 1000+ reviews ar one site). Wasn't looking, but the HP Envy I am on now may get a big brother with this deal.

This CPU actually supports up to 96 GB RAM. And agreed, this is a great deal.

Max RAM is determined by the motherboard, not CPU manufacturer.

Not anymore. The memory controller is on the CPU these days, the motherboard just has electrical connections between the CPU pins and the memory slots.

When the laptop manufacturer lists a maximum RAM number, generally that's either the maximum they offer for that model, or the maximum they've tested.

Get the m4. External screen is $70. And 2 cheap usb battery are $15 each.

I love the diy mentality.

Some people say a car battery last longer. I saw some diy from a car battery into a psu with power outlets.

At a glance, this looks somewhat comparable:

Thoughts?

Edit: I don't live near a Micro Center store. I'm looking for something that can handle light office/work stuff, run a Cricut machine/software… maybe run a game other than Solitaire.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but the Sam's model appears to be a generation older i7, not have a touchscreen, worse battery life, and half the SSD size

Is this 13th gen i7 on Santa's naughty list in regards to degrading over time, or was that only the desktop CPU's?

Since this is refurbished what should we expect in terms of cosmetics and battery cycle?

I bought a hp envy 2-in-1 from microcenter recently (also refurbished), but it looks like brand new
