Here is my personal price history for the last couple of years... of course I didn't always catch the really good deals.
2012 free
2013 free
2014 Prem+ $16.23
2015 Prem+ $16.25
2016 Deluxe $10.89
2017 Deluxe $14.95
2018 Deluxe $18.17
2019 Deluxe $21.89
2020 Deluxe $21.49
2021 Premium $24.97
2022 Premium $28.48
2023 Deluxe $24.99
2024 Deluxe $20.99
HOWEVER, if I look at the list of forms for Deluxe in 2024, it does not include Schedule E! The H&R web page also suggests Premium for rentals. I hate it when a company removes things without making that really clear. I am not sure if Deluxe will be enough for rentals this year.

The fact that it's such an obvious major bug should be enough to scare people in this thread away. It's not worth saving a few bucks if it screws up your taxes so badly. Looking at other stories in this thread, it's not the only major bug either, and they absolutely don't stand behind their product.
Edit to add a link to the IRS policy I'm referencing. It's under question 9 here - https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/chil...redit-faqs
In my case, I had one child in daycare that incurred all of the expenses. H&R was only allowing me to claim $8k in expenses where I was entitled to $16k. If I fudged the numbers and added $1 to my other child, they would calculate the full credit.
1. I used turbotax last year, had used springtax before that, OP is HR and some people mentioned freetaxus too. Am I correct in assuming that they're all pretty much the same for a simple tax payer (family, 1 employment, no other sources of income).
2. Are inauguration years businessas usual? Im guessing taxes for 2024 are frozen by the same new admin starts on Jan and whatever changes will be effective FY25 onwards?
3. Are we *all* getting federal free filing for free from the IRS this year?

Besides you are taking money from yourself, friends, neighbors and family. They do not do it for "free" The budget requires about $1,000,000 per return they do for "free". Yes that is one million and let that soak in, there is nothing "free" That is money that will be taken from people that work their butts off just to put food on the table and it is almost criminal waste of money. Not a good thing to support or recommend to anybody, as it is costing everybody dearly.
Why not fill your return with one for the real free options offered by multiple companies or spend the $20 for this deal. It will cost you and all of us literally millions less.
Edit: Premium + Business (I have an LLC for freelancing)

But it doesn't do state taxes so not that useful for most people.

However, IRS did not have a training goal for contractors, some of whom handle the same taxpayer information as IRS employees. IRS records showed more than a third of required information security training was missing for contractors in fiscal year 2021.
Many of the IT systems IRS uses to process tax returns and issue refunds and payments are old or outdated (25 years old or older), which leaves them vulnerable to cyberattacks. In January, IRS rolled out the release of a new internet platform that allows businesses to file taxes electronically. IRS is also piloting a program to allow individual taxpayers to file directly on IRS.gov in 2024.
But despite these IT updates, in our new report we found critical weaknesses in IRS's efforts to protect its systems (new and old) from cyberthreats. For example, IRS is required to maintain an inventory of its systems that store taxpayer information. But we found this inventory was missing seven systems used to process tax data. If IRS does not know which systems house taxpayer information, it cannot ensure that proper protections are in place.
