Just checking if anyone has tried coupons from the 1/5 inserts today (Friday). Don't want to make another trip to CVS if they are still coming up as invalid. Thanks.

Yes, it appears as if no insert coupons are scanning. You can add Boost and Biotene to the list. I gave it one last try today and they still come up as invalid. I purchased nothing from CVS this week. Next week I have a ton of ECB's expiring, so I have to get something or lose them.

When CVS went to Coupon24, they changed the barcode on the coupons so that the register will only accept Coupon24 verified coupons. None of the paper coupons except for P&G are going to scan at CVS until the manufacturers sign up for Coupon24. However, I've heard that a few paper coupons still work at CVS but I can't explain why that is.

I'm not sure where you are getting the verified part from. I've read/watched multiple articles on Coupons24 and there is nothing about them being able to verify paper qs. It's an app that offers digital qs, which looks like mostly P&G right now. They have no control over whether or not another company's qs are valid. Now, did CVS do something to their own system so it stopped taking a whole lot of valid qs, yes. Are they trying to push C24 on everyone, yes again. This whole verified/invalid q thing being C24, nah, that's all CVS' doing.

Coupon24 is switching the barcode from 8110 to 8112 on paper coupons. 8110 coupons have to be sent in to receive payment while 8112 coupons can be validated at the register. The coupons that aren't working at CVS are the 8110 ones. My guess is that CVS has been taking the 8110 coupons during the transition to 8112 coupons but not getting paid for them which is why they toss them in the trash. Since Coupon24 is now live, CVS is no longer taking 8110 coupons.

Interesting. I wonder what will happen to Coupon24 if other retailers decide not to participate.

You missed my point. My point is that it's CVS that is making the changes to their own system. Neither the vast majority of manufacture's nor the majority of stores have made the decision to use this app and, like Markwin25 just said, what happens if other stores don't jump on the bandwagon? True, P&G is the big dog and others may follow but, as of right now, they haven't and they may not so their paper qs should and do work at stores. Had CVS not altered their system, they would work there as well. I'm no tech person but they should be able to take more than one barcode type. And please believe, CVS is definitely getting paid for valid coupons. Just because they decided to try something new, doesn't mean all manufacture's have to do it as well. I know that they are hoping for that to be the case but that may or may not happen.

Coupon24 is a very good thing for retailers because it guarantees that they'll get paid for every coupon that the register accepts and they don't have to spend any time processing the coupons.

Retailers are going to love Coupon24. They get paid for every coupon the register takes and they don't have to do anything which cuts labor costs. Plus, P&G is the industry leader and everybody follows what they do. It's actually good for consumers, too. If all of the retailers share coupons, they're going to have to work extra hard to earn your business. More competition means lower prices and better customer service. The drawback, of course, is the one coupon limit. For me, that makes Coupon24 a big negative but for most people it's probably a good thing.

As far as jumping on the bandwagon, I'm a very good example of what happens when you don't embrace new things. I've never done Ibotta because I'm stuck in how couponing used to be 10 years ago and what happens is that the bandwagon leaves you in the dust.

I could see retailers being happy about it. I don't see the good for consumers part unless stores keep their own dq and C24 is an extra one to have. If C24 were to become the only way to get a digital and the limit is only 1, at only 1 store, that would decrease my shopping. I don't see it making stores work harder to get your money.

CVS is charging the outrageous price of $14.99 for Tide this week. My local grocery store has it for $9.99 after the $3 dq. If I only have one dq, I'm going to the store with the lowest price. Most people don't do the EB deal because you have to buy the Tide pods and Downy beads to go with it and they just want to get the detergent. CVS is going to have to be competitive with their prices otherwise they'll lose business to the other Coupon24 stores.
