I use cheap adjustable dumbells (zero gravity is the brand). I would recommend ironmaster v2 adjustable bench system + dumbbells if u use them frequently. Adjustable and can drop them + system has spotting attachments etc for the bench. I hope this helps. In general for fitness stuff u get what u pay for. Probably some decent new years sales incoming
1. Buy a decent rack, bench, and setup. For home use, you can do it for under $1,000.
2. I have this setup (rack and pulldown/row attachment). I am happy with it. I did a tweak when I put it together and added washers with every bolt. I think it makes it more stable. I suggest that for any rack. I am 200 lbs and this is very stable even when doing weighted pull-ups.
3. This rack is an odd size. It has a 2.35" frame. Attachments are not as available as they are for 2", 2.5", and 3" uprights.
4. Buy a rack that has either 2.5", 3", or 2x3" uprights. Obviously, they will be heavier duty than 2".
5. If you want to do other cable movements (cable flyes, reverse flyes, chest press, etc.), consider another rack with a two-cable system. I bought an add on attachment that works but would be nice to have a system with two cables built in.
6. There are several options on Amazon in the $500-$700 range that have dual-cable, lots of attachments, etc. Some include a bench (a little north of $700). This is just one: https://www.amazon.com/Sportsroya...0C
Cage was $129, now is $198.
Lat Pull Down was $48, now is $88.
Not Slick. It has been this price for a while.

I haven't put too much weight on the cable system (maybe 180 max) but it seems to handle it fine. A little flexing but nothing crazy. The cable has no dampening or stability built in so if you're going for explosive type lifting then you will bounce the around which feels super unsafe so I only do slow and controlled with that.
*IT comes in several boxes. the boxes are NOT made for the kind of weight they pack so lay everything out before you built. I had random bits missing but don't recall getting replacements being that hard.
Seems like a good price for the lat pull down.
Word of caution: Like another poster said, some of the attachments/accessories for this are hard to come by/permanently out of stock and the cage is a VERY specific shape/size, so no other options will fit. So if you want safety straps or bars or things of that nature, be prepared to get creative.
My two cents if you're on a budget get the cheap cage and cheap balancefrom bumper weights, then spend a little extra to get a high quality barbell.
