canon loyalty program, through an agent working 8:30 to 5. you need an old canon camera or lens product though. Call (866) 443-8002, select option 2.

Canon refurbished cameras bought on the Canon website come with a one year warranty, same as new. I've bought several, and never had occasion to use the warranty. And I like the RP so much, that when my first one was destroyed on a stormy day, I immediately bought another. This price is so low, that I'm half tempted to buy another as a spare.

I bought and returned an RP a while back because it was not good for sports action. Otherwise this is a great value.

Since it wasn't posted in the OP:
RP is 26mp full frame camera.
R10 is 24mp APS-C camera.

This is a great deal. There is also R100 with kit lens available for $300. That's an unbelievable price.
I bought this instead of Nikon z6 since this price for a full frame is a steal. For the price, I will ignore the lower dynamic range of Canon vs Nikon/Sony.

$299 is a great deal. But the lowest I have ever seen for the R100 was black Friday, when it was $220... and some reason it was $204 after I went to capitalone and used their link.

I do suggest buying the 2 lens R100 kit for $100 more ($399)

When the R8 is on sale refurbished, it's $850-$900. To me that's much much much much better value.

The RP has a very old sensor, likely developed at the same time as the 5D III's, i.e. about 12 years ago. When they launched this sensor (c. 6-7 years ago in the 6D Mark II), people were astonished that Canon would start manufacturing a sensor that was clearly a generation behind even for them.

This camera will still take beautiful images. It just has Dynamic Range from over a decade ago (your phone will outclass its DR any day), and an AF system that's also a decade behind the curve.

If you can, wait for a refurb deal on the R8. It'll be $800 soon. That camera is a whole decade ahead of the RP!

I would even go so far as to say, this is a bad deal. I'm actually surprised Canon didn't clear their RP stock out completely two years ago at $500 when the R8 came out. This is ancient tech with very poor DR and AF.

Or for $850 when on same refurbished. Canon should clear their RP stock at $350-400 at last. That's how much it's worth.

Not saying you guys are wrong but where else can I find a FF camera for $500? Sony A7 (1st gen)? I would take the RP over that. its a great budget cam for anyone just switching to FF from APSC.

Not everyone needs the latest greatest and do Pro work. If you know what you're doing this can still take amazing pics!

Canon EOS RP has dual pixel autofocus,( except in 4K video.) I believe this is one of the best autofocusing system .
Typically Canon dynamic range is not as good as Nikon/sony. This one is similar story. In terms of dynamic range, The "ancient tech" matches prior full frame professional canon camera bodies like 5d III. Of course not the current pro cameras.

The price I am seeing is $809.99. I gave them a call and the agent said the best they can do (if I give my old canon camera/lens serial number) is 5% off on this body, as it already has instant savings of $90.

Canon has come a loooong way both in terms of AF and in terms of DR since this sensor was developed in or around 2012. It's literally a 12 year old sensor. Gen 1 dual pixel AF is not good. I own an EOS R with the same AF system. It's bad. My 6D has the same DR as this camera. It's bad. Even if you just stop raw files up by a single stop. The images look like they were stopped up. Even my Sony RX100 with its tiny sensor from 2013 had far superior DR. Canon used to be very very much behind in DR. They got closer to Sony's class-leading DR in recent years.

The R8 has an almost-state-of-the -art AF system for a little less money! The R8 on sale refurb at $850 is much much better value! Literally over a decade ahead of the RP.
