I got an ad from Sam's yesterday. It shows up to $30 off between Jan.18th & Feb.7th with a $10 credit. Someone posted a photo of the discount per product in one of the recent TT threads.
most consumers dont have CD drive anymore.. so it makes sense.. also, most other programs stopped providing CD's ages ago
if you can turn on a computer, you can download a small file..
i keep a laptop cd drive around to rip cd/dvd images. ive always purchased TurboTax on cd up to now. i have a stack of turbotax cds and wanted to add to my collection.
Well that sucks. Amazon has had the turbotax deals with GC for the past 3 or 4 years right before EOY. I'll wait for a sale then. 🤨
Same. And if no sale comparable to the price we usually get on the end of year sales in the past, then I'm going to cut the cord and jump to FreeTaxUSA. Only have to make that leap once, and then I'll be free of TurboTax's extortionate pricing forever.

IRS free file has been available for years at certain income levels and IRS Direct File should be open to a lot more states this year. I understand some people may have more complicated tax situations, but a lot of people pay to file taxes unnecesarily. Intuit is a terrible, scummy busines and they shouldn't be supported. They fool people into paying for filing their taxes through false labeling and misdirecting users from their actual free programs into paid programs, and they are the main lobby against filing with the IRS directly.
Taxpayers whose AGI is $79,000 or less qualify for a free federal tax return.
So that most likely excludes mostly everyone reading through this thread.
