Don't know if you need to hear this but it's okay to sit this one out, especially if you already have a pair (though I totally understand where you are coming from). If it helps: these were on sale for $129 before and like you said they go on sale often, so you could always wait for them to hit that price point again.

Big advantage of these over the XM5s is the size when in the case which may make a big difference when traveling.

Damn it so many times the XM4s have gone on sale and I love my pair and want a second one but can't justify the price when I have so much other shit I need to deal with.

Recently got some used XM3's for $75. Very similar noise cancelling. Sound is a bit bassier. They don't have two-device pairing and the head sensor. They do have a virtual sound stage feature (VPT) and support aptX.

There is the ~$150 AKG N9 I just picked them up the other day. I have had good luck with AKG in the past but curous if anyone has more of a head 2 head experience of the two?

What really sold me was the built in 2.4ghz wireless dongle and also the 3.5mm hybrid so I can use them for anything/everything without restriction.

But also the XM-4 vs the XM-5 I would wait for the XM-5 to be on sale if that is the best pick of the 3. From what I read XM-4 is darker and a bit more bass heavy and that is usually my style for music headphones.

I like the silver but eventually you'll need new pads for the earcups, and you're never going to find 3rd party replacement pads in silver.
