All the cameras are deep clearance as well. Just ordered a camera, wiring kit, and backup mirror/camera for $30.07 total. Not bad for a complete cheap setup for an older vehicle.

All available items as far as I can tell.

I think a cheap cam would've picked up both of those instances.

Dash cams are not to catch funny videos. It's your insurance.
When you had an accident, it may (and usually does) come to your word against his and having video confirming your story can save you 100s if not 1000s on insurance. So you want absolutely reliable camera and you know you have video clip if something happens.
Two personal cases:
1) Lady backed up in the parking lot. Clear damage to my front and her rear. She had the audacity to call insurance and claim that I rear-ended her car. Upload of one file solved this problem.
2) I was going straight, dude was turning left. By the time cops came, traffic light changed several times. The only way to prove that I had green was to have video.
Any camera is better than nothing. Being $12 is just a bonus. I've had up to $400 dash cams and the one thing that is always consistent is that they don't last...no matter how much you spend. I've literally had every bad thing possible happen with dash cams (swollen batteries, lens slowly failing and eventually only showing snow, started smoking, etc). At this point, none of these cams are worth MSRP and none of them will last more than a few years.

No, not really - most dash cams sold until recently used mini-USB, and some current ones still do.
I have installed/hardwired 4 dash dash cams in the last year and anything still using mini/micro ports are running sensors and boards from 4+ years ago. I have only purchased USB-C cams with the newer gen boards and sensors (Sony Starvis 2).

Debating whether to pickup the Pro camera for $30, seems like a no brainer, the hidden camera had better resolution but 2/2 bad reviews. Hopefully that's not consistent for all Sylvania cams because the other two have 0 reviews. Question...do I need the hardwire kit? Can I charge this thing up while I'm driving and just unplug it when it's in the garage at home (most of the time). I don't leave my cars in parking lots very often, and frankly I'd be more likely to use the footage when I'm driving anyhow. Nm, showed in stock until I tried to checkout. It was fun while it lasted. Well, on second thought, the wiring kit is still available locally - so my original question still applies.

I installed a dash camera a couple of months ago. It's cheap but it works. I just bought an adapter off of Amazon that plugs in to the ODB2 port and powers the cam that way. After I turn the car off it continues to record for about 5-10 minutes and then shuts off. I feel that's easier than tapping into the fusebox. Might be a better choice for some on here.

Are these a pain to install? I don't mean connecting the wires, I can deal with that... I mean running the wires to the battery somehow...

need to add item to cart to get price. They changed the way the deal showed up.
I HAD seen the $2.xx price on the main page (not having to add to cart) but recently it changed to show a $6.xx price on mainpage and you MUST add to cart to see the deal now.
FYI for those who see the website changing

You usually don't run the wires all the way TO the car battery. You tap off the fuse box thats inside the car's cabin, usually under the steering wheel area. So not that difficult, but every car is different, so you need to watch youtube on how to take off pane4ls for YOUR car to route the wires.

Exactly. Anything is better then nothing. My cheap walmart clearance GoPro knock off which I repurposed as a dash cam saved me 200 bucks when Ice blew off a Semi on the bridge a few years ago and destroyed my front grill. I was able to ID the Trucking Company (the truck was passing on the opposite side) when I got home and the company reimbursed me for the damage after I sent them the footage. EVERYONE should have a dashcam.
