Edit: Received mine and they're indeed made in Japan.
Ikea comes out to $1.87 each vs. $1.94 on this deal (or less with S&S). But Ikea's is only 750mah vs. this at 850mah.

I looked them up, and the nearest one is over 3.5 hours away. I'm not traveling SEVEN HOURS + fuel + dealing with nonsense in-store just to save seven cents per battery.
Make less money???
I stopped using the white eneloop chargers and now use the black ones. For whatever reason my four white ones get hot (came bundled with the batteries). The black ones stay cool to the touch. I'd have to pull up the order history for the p/n's, but basic 4-battery charger units.
Also, aren't the Laddas equivalent to the Panasonic Eneloop Pros (the ones with the black label)?

Long answer:
Most seem to believe it is a higher grade model since it is made in Japan. Apparently the packaging relates to being a newer gen as it has a 50 mAH bump too, to 850mAH. On top of that, it is slightly cheaper than normal price per battery. I'm not going to get into politicks, inflation or the shipping issues that have plagued us. I will just acknowledge that the price the last 5 years per battery is on average higher than what it currently is here. IMO, it is just as much of a gamble that these will be cheaper that you are also gambling that they won't be higher when you need them, over the next three years. More than likely they will cost more when you need them and batteries CAN classify as a need item depending on the use.
Also, as some have stated throughout these 9 pages, the AA 10 pack has been listed with a higher mAH bump as well. Looking over the history of the 12 pack of AA, it would seem that the 10 pack at $25.63 is a good price as well on those.
Since the AA is getting lost in this thread of IKEA distances; I went ahead and posted a separate thread about it. Perhaps it is the 5th gen but even if not, it's still a good price.
