I had 1-gigabit internet with Xfi Complete (for unlimited data) for a couple of years and was paying $115/month. I was tired of spending so much, so I called to decrease the plan or find any promotions. I got an upgrade to 2-gigabit with a 2-year contract for $88.

The 2-gigabit plan was not an option online.
Number I called: 1-800-934-6489
(I had to go through many menus to talk to a real person.)
Your mileage and availability may vary.

Note: I understand that I will not even be able to utilize 2-gigabit on most of my devices, but I plan to run some new CAT6 and get a 2.5Gb switch for my primary desktop.

Is there a map that tells you if 2gig service is even available in your area?
If you go and plug in your address at https://www.xfinity.com/overview they'll tell you what services are available.

They provide an all-in-one with a 2Gb port.

However I just put it in bridge mode and use my own stuff. Also, open up the modem case and disconnect the WiFi antennas, because there's no way to disable the WiFi even in bridge mode.
So it's still the case that to get unlimited data you must have their equipment be the gateway? Frown Makes me wonder what info they're gathering from your network for it to be worth it for them to not collect the $40 a month for unlimited data cap.

Seriously suspect this is one of those contract-term deals where the price skyrockets to 150% after 1-2 years. Haven't seen that mentioned yet.
Literally in the post it says "2-year contract."

They get another access point for their "millions of wifi hotspots."

You can use the ≥ +1000/100 filter and that should show it, I think. I can use it to see that I don't have 2gig but down the street it's available.

I see....
New customer pricing is $85 (12 months, no contract) or $90 (24 months, 1 yr contract term) and both include free modem and unlimited data and also 1 yr unlimited mobile line that usually costs $40/month.

What's the new customer promo price? You can always sign up as a new customer every 1-2 years and get the promo price.
SF Bay Area here- 2 gbps is available for new customers for $80 a month for 2 years with 2 year contract, or $75 a month for 12 months without a contract.

Thanks for this link. I was only seeing 1200 on my account but confirmed via that site that it's the fastest in my area. I was paying $110 for 1gb and was able to get 1200 for $90. I'll take it.

The biggest improvement with the 2gbps plan is not the increase in download speeds, but I believe that they have drastically increased the upload speeds (with supporting modem) for 2gbps plans...

I reached out in their Reddit subreddit, and they couldn't do any better than what I have now. Mine's bundled with cable though.

If you are in the Bay Area it varies from city to city and even within the city. Plus, in the Bay Area, check out Sonic for sure. https://www.sonic.com/
Sonic is still a few blocks away from us unfortunately, and Comcast does not have mid-split upgrade in my part of town either. Frown

Buy a 2.5/10G switch, you'll want it very soon.
