I had 1-gigabit internet with Xfi Complete (for unlimited data) for a couple of years and was paying $115/month. I was tired of spending so much, so I called to decrease the plan or find any promotions. I got an upgrade to 2-gigabit with a 2-year contract for $88.

The 2-gigabit plan was not an option online.
Number I called: 1-800-934-6489
(I had to go through many menus to talk to a real person.)
Your mileage and availability may vary.

Note: I understand that I will not even be able to utilize 2-gigabit on most of my devices, but I plan to run some new CAT6 and get a 2.5Gb switch for my primary desktop.

Thanks, OP.

I didn't get the 2GB plan, but I had to renew last Summer for the 800 plan at $90/mo (after $10 discount for autopay). That locked me in for 12-mo.**

I got the 1GB bc the price was $65/mo (after $10 autopay) and good for 24 months. Saving me $25/mo. (Contract was 12-mo, but price is good for 24-mo).

**YMMV, but Xfinity has told me that they will let me switch plans without cancellation penalty if going to higher speeds (maybe even lower speeds) just as long as you don't cancel (move, switch to FIOS, etc.).
You can also switch to non-contract plan at anytime then cancel after without penalty

Price seems decent for the speed but: 1. Comcast is absolutely horrible to deal with if you have issues or when you want to call to cancel because they hike the price 2x or more after the term ends. 2. What are people actually using 2 gig internet for? Netflix 4k stream requires 25 Mbps per instance so lets just round it up to 30 Mbps for good measure. 300 Mbps down will still support 10 simultaneous streams assuming 30 Mbps per stream. Like someone mentioned above the upload boost is nice, but if you have fiber in your area its usually symmetrical (for example 300 down/300 up). If you are backing stuff up to the cloud or sending out large files upload becomes a lot more important.
If you do a lot of large file transfers over the WAN this is great, like people who use usenet

So were you out of your previous contract already or where you able to jump into this new deal while still under contract? I think my current deal ends in (2) months.

Xfinity raised my bill from $60/month for 800, to $99 a month starting 1/1. Even after going to 300, it's still $65/month. However, I live in an area serviced by Astound, and they offer 1 Gig for $45/month. The choice is clear! Xfinity can go Ef themselves. As it is now, I have both, paying only $20/month for Astound 300. I have had zero problems for the past year with Astound. Fortunately, I can have both connected to MY router as it can handle 2 ISP's on it.
Is your Astound $20/mo before or after fees? They charge $16.93/mo "Network access and maintenance fee" here on top of $20 for 300

If you wanna get through faster, call Comcasts corporate number at215-286-1700Everyone there is extra nice.
People also ask
What number is 215 286 1700?
215-286-1700 number is a fake Comcast headquarter call. Comcast says the caller will pretend to be a Comcast agent and ask for account information or state your IP address is compromised. 800-934-6489 is a Comcast spoof call, posing as the Comcast Cable Protection Plan.

That number shows up on their company profile and BBB, seems legit. Not sure what you got, maybe that is Comcast trying to stop people calling it Smilie

This really needs to have "YMMV" in the title. Majority of customers won't be able to replicate this deal.

I thought the 1.2Gb plan was over cable and not fiber? XFinity fiber (fiber ran all the way into the house) in our area is the same down speed as the up speed and you usually get the full 1Gb/2Gb speeds. But they are rated the worst fiber internet in KC because of their stability. (They always have outages)
ahh yes, Cable. Had no idea Xfinity had fiber now,

Thanks OP. Went from $110 at 1Gig with my own modem and 1.2 Tb cap, to $105 for 2Gig with their modem and no data cap. Hopefully will be easy to bridge their modem to my mesh router.

Is it self-install? Update: yes, it is. Typical upload speed 306 Mbps (in comparison, Google Fiber - unlimited), included data 1.2 TB per month, overage $10/50 GB (Google Fiber - unlimited)...

In my area, Xfinity pretty much holds a monopoly on high-speed internet. The representative I spoke to acted like the deal I mentioned wasn't in their system and tried to push some less appealing offers. Then she said the deal was only for new customers and there was nothing she could do. Xfinity has always been tough with their offers around here, likely because they have no competition. Honestly, if there was another option than xfinity —even with slightly slower speeds like 300 or 400 Mbps—I'd switch in a heartbeat!

not targeted, its a regular deal for any customer, no contract. existing account i could simply "switch" to this plan. New accounts can sign up with this public plan
If anyone could get it, anyone could enter their address and see this, and that's not the case. This is targeted to the house level in markets where they have stiffer competition, likely from fiber.

<--knows a thing or two about how this stuff works.

Like the fact that you draw a distinction between "nuts" and "Crazy"

Those of you not doing business from home, what benefits are there to the high up speeds? Lots of cloud interaction or???

I suppose it's the shared gaming stuff.
Gaming uses very little "speed" per se, but relies on lower latency.

Most households could get away with 500mbps these days as their max, though it would always be nice to have symmetrical up/download speeds. Even the most intensive household wouldn't really max out a 500mbps pipe unless they want/need multiple devices getting to 500mbps each, which is ludicrous.

We have 1gbps, and it's overkill for most of our needs.
