I had 1-gigabit internet with Xfi Complete (for unlimited data) for a couple of years and was paying $115/month. I was tired of spending so much, so I called to decrease the plan or find any promotions. I got an upgrade to 2-gigabit with a 2-year contract for $88.

The 2-gigabit plan was not an option online.
Number I called: 1-800-934-6489
(I had to go through many menus to talk to a real person.)
Your mileage and availability may vary.

Note: I understand that I will not even be able to utilize 2-gigabit on most of my devices, but I plan to run some new CAT6 and get a 2.5Gb switch for my primary desktop.

I called the number and after a long hold the CSR told me that "there is no new deal associated with this account", and when I asked to cancel service they just went ahead with it :-P

Go for braided Cat 8. I bought a new computer as my old one was runing slow. After I ran the Cat 8, my old computer sped up about ten times.

The biggest improvement with the 2gbps plan is not the increase in download speeds, but I believe that they have drastically increased the upload speeds (with supporting modem) for 2gbps plans...
Yes, I think at 1Gb my upload was 150MBps.
I just ran the test with 2Gb plan and getting 355Mbps upload (I'm not sure what's it's actually supposed to be).

Does not matter, sometimes year 1 is discounted... Then goes up a bit for year 2.. that is what I have seen lately Xfinity do. We currently got just out of the promo and will be cutting TV completely, and downscaling to 500Mbps service (no promo) ...
I just recently finished my 2yr contract with them, I chatted with cs around Christmas to ask for a better deal but the guy couldn't get anything close to what I already had and tried to bundle cell service in. When I said no to everything he said to check back in a month and see if any better deals are available. Checked online last night and saw an offer for the exact same promo I'm on for another year (500Megs for $55 with autopay and xFi complete). I was shocked I didn't have to cancel and sign up again to get a halfway decent deal this time. Try logging into your account and check the contract offers otherwise it'll all be overpriced post-promo plans if you haven't already.

I'll try logging in and see what they have but I'll probably cancel and have my wife create a new account and do the new customer dance.

Lots of people review their expenses in the beginning of the year to tighten their belt after a few months of nonstop spending. Possible they are counteracting this?

Horrible company to deal with i been waiting for them to hook up my service since November. I've talked to at least 20 people. 4 stores. All the techs and supervisors I can, they are clueless and incompetent and can't properly communicate with each other. I have no choice because no other company around except satellite. Starlink is adding up while I wait. Disgusting[xfinity] service.

Thanks OP. Went from $110 at 1Gig with my own modem and 1.2 Tb cap, to $105 for 2Gig with their modem and no data cap. Hopefully will be easy to bridge their modem to my mesh router.
I was a able to with no problem

Gaming uses very little "speed" per se, but relies on lower latency.

Most households could get away with 500mbps these days as their max, though it would always be nice to have symmetrical up/download speeds. Even the most intensive household wouldn't really max out a 500mbps pipe unless they want/need multiple devices getting to 500mbps each, which is ludicrous.

We have 1gbps, and it's overkill for most of our needs.
I am just fine with 300/20, as higher speed with Comcast does not mean lower latency. When streaming the highest usage comes to 50 Mbps, just fine for our needs. My two years $25 a month contract it is coming to an end and I am hoping to find a comparable deal.
I tried T-Mo @Home and while it was very promising at first, the second month of service was horrible and unusable at all. They've replaced the modem but the data did not improve.

Unfortunately those are the only two options I have in my area.

XFINITY WEB PAGE Data Limit on 2GB service
Can someone confirm if this is still the case?

Data Included with Monthly Price 1.2 TB
Charges for Additional Data Usage for customers without unlimited data or xFi Complete$10/50 GB*
*Maximum of $100 per month; not charged in first month of overages.

- I am happy with the 1.2GB but If I watch a lot of 4K movies I can get close to the Data Limit - Unlimited data would be a reason to upgrade

how do you do two accounts?
I don't think Xfinity cares even if you sign up for a second account with the same name or you can try with a bit variation in your name, like using just first name and middle name.

I left Xfinity due to their constant price hikes and fluctuations. They also imposed data caps, which we frequently approached because of Netflix and other streaming services. I switched to Sonic Fiber with a 10 Gbps speed, which is only available in limited areas of Northern and Southern California. While it is the fastest internet available, my router only supports a maximum speed of 1 Gbps, so I can't fully utilize the speed they provide. Honestly, I'm not sure what we would do with a 10 Gbps connection. Anything beyond 500 Mbps is generally unnecessary for a typical household.

Oh and it is 50 bucks a month. 😂

If it's any easier, the number you called spells out 1-800-XFINITY
Or 1-800-comcast lol

Great deal, thanks OP. This is the opposite of my experience calling these knuckleheads today. My gigabit promo ran out - I'm now paying full boat - and I called to get on a new plan. The rep's only offer was a plan at lower speed that was $20/mo more than what I was paying. It was like phoning into opposite land.

Then I logged on the website and was offered "a new rate" on my same plan for what I was paying for 12 months. Still think it should be lower, but I took that for now.

I was also offered a free Xfinity mobile line at one point, along with a BOGO deal, which may have been good for two free lines for a year. I didn't take it, but was intrigued by that, even though my brief experience with Xfinity Mobile in the past was a disaster. Seems like there would be a deal to be had, especially with the trade in promos.
