One would think that the n97 would be weaker than n100, bigger number usually means better CPU right?
But no! The n97 is better than the n100...why not call it n105? N110?
Anyway, good deal lol
What I did was I created a windows 11 install drive via windows 11 media creation tool then offline, I booted the USB and deleted the entire drive and did a clean install.

Edit: consider OS spyware. You write a filter driver which sits between keyboard and OS. You pass through data but do a little processing to figure out what you want to send, write it to memory and eventually send it somewhere.
Now let's compare that to a firmware spyware. So we have some bad code on keyboard mcu for example. But this code runs on a tiny mcu with limited storage, processing and no access to internet.
So you gotta still gotta figure out how to send over the data to OS… and if you own OS it's easier and cheaper to just use a filter driver.

I personally own a couple of their laptops and will never buy another acemagic product ever again. Not worth the headache.
In my opinion, acemagic should never be listed on slickdeals as they are still shipping compromised hardware.
The rando saying there is still malware on this I am suspect of because this is an AOC resale and I personally don't believe that after that exposure they are still shipping malware on a resale from a volume ODM (AOC).
So you can simply wipe the SSD (full erase) if you are worried (I do this for ALL devices) and go about your business and put a virgin Win11 or other Linux OS on it. Just be sure to clear all partitions (most of these malware were in recovery partitions).
There have been zero confirmed reports of UFI-level rootkits on ACE. Lenovo did have a driver (could be called a rootkit) on some of their laptops and they subsequently provided a BIOS update.
Note: Even the windows Lenovo UEFI event was only active for windows, if you had used Linux you would not be affected. So this does lead to some preference for Linux on these minipc.

I have "Disable hardware TCP segmentation offload" ticked too. But on others I do not.
On 2.6 or so, I think there was issues loading the Realtek kernel drivers, I had to manually fetch it, install it (over shell). But hadn't need to do it in 2.7.x (latest), so far works good.
I know its not for everyone, but the pitch is, all OEM install always seem to have bloatware, that means there is a possibility these bloatware will prove lower performance. Clean install rules that out so I never have to suspect that at the back of my mind whenever Windows seems to slow down for no reason.
I also would expect this to be pretty good for hardware transcoding. I'm assuming it doesn't do AV1 like the discrete Intel GPUs, though, but, then again, there aren't many devices you'd want to transcode into AV1 for anyway.

That makes it a good candidate for a Plex server with QuickSync handling hardware transcoding (w/ plex pass).
