Hi Thomas, nice to meet you.
I checked your account and you were under our
SAVE10 promotion where you get $10 off for 5 years and you are on our $45 premium plan already.

Thomas:
That is correct. The SAVE15 promo brings it down to $30. I was hoping you could apply that or else l'll just downgrade to the basic plan and then upgrade using that promo. But wanted to just avoid having to do that

Agent:
Upon checking your request that you will step down and ask if we can add the SAVE15 promotion to get $15 off for 25 months, unfortunately upon reading the terms and condition for the SAVE15 promotion, it states that : agents will not be able to apply the SAVE15 promotion if the member is already on the $45 premium plan and request to step down and wanted to add the SAVE15 promotion to their account.

I deeply apologize but we can not add the SAVE15 promotion after you step down and upgrade back to the $45 premium plan. I advise you not to step down because when you step down, you will loose the SAVE10 promotion that were applied to your account

Here is another way to save some extra money: if you have some (older) unlocked phones or or eSIM slots in active phones available you can create and activate new accounts for other people in your household. You'll get a $20 credit per referral in the referring account and the new account gets a $20 discount off the first month. Choose the $25 plan without any other promo codes (since they can't be combined with the referral credit). Once the new account is active turn off autopay and close the account before the first month is over (or just don't pay which suspends service and eventually cancels it). You'll essentially pay $5 for the $20 credit on your permanent account. You can use one referral credit per month so your already discounted $30 plan comes down to $10 as long as you have referral credits banked (you can bank up to 12). I recently did this with my son's account (who recently signed up for the promo $30 plan for 25 months. I also had statement credit offers on 3 Citi cards that were worth $25 each for any purchase from visible. The $5 first month payment for the throw away accounts triggered the credits so I made another $60 along with the 3x$20 referral credits my son received.

I see that Visible+ hotspot is capped at 10Mbps. Do folks think this would be sufficient for periodic remote work / Zoom calls when I'm on the road?

Thanks!

Freely admitting I'm a complete idiot and hoping someone can help me out. Is all I need to do to switch from VzW is get my number porting PIN from verizon, then sign up for Visible as a new customer (first timer), then give them my PIN at some point in that process, then once I'm up and running on visible I cancel Verizon? Sorry I am so dumb. Very thankful for the wisdom of this community.

I was on their annual plan of Visible+ which came out to 33.00 a month and this brought it down to 30.00. Thanks OP!

I'm on visible basic promotion at $15 per month and the service is satisfactory.
Is there any real reason to pay double to upgrade? Faster speeds seem irrelevant on a phone since 25 Mbps or so is more than enough for anything I would want to do on a phone. I know hotspot gets upgraded to 10 Mbps as opposed to 5mbps but even that seems marginal since 10 Mbps isn't all that fast to begin with.
I'm genuinely asking not being sarcastic. Is it really a worthwhile upgrade? Can someone comment please. Thanks
If you're happy with your existing plan, why bother?

I was kind of borderline, myself, because I work from home so my phone's on wifi 99% of the time so cellular data doesn't really matter most of the time... buuuuuut, for me it was only a $5/mo upgrade, and I'd been considering it because often times when I do go out shopping in busier areas and need to use my phone, the data was pretty clearly deprioritized.

I guess that depends on the density of your video conferencing calls. It usually helps a lot if YOU don't have your camera on to saturate what little upload speed is available.
I've used it before (before I had +, where it was apparently limited to ~5mbps) and it got me by during a power outage or two, but it wasn't great. Based on what I've observed so far with +, it's a good deal more responsive & dependable... but YMMV.

Just to follow up on this, I am one of the people who was on the Visible+ plan for $35/mo, who tried updating their plan to use SAVE15 and ended up having their bill change to full price ($45). I'm happy to say that after chatting with support and having them escalate to a different team, my bill now shows as $30. I am going to keep an eye on next month's bill to make sure that it continues to be $30/mo. According to the person that I chatted with originally, they assured me that this price would be good for 25 months. For anyone else who is interested in trying this, the escalation team should send you an email containing the case number, notifying you that they're working on your case, and the email should go into details about what exactly they're doing (updating the account to use SAVE15 in this case). Replying to those emails results in a response stating that the email is not monitored, and that you'll need to go through the chat process and reference the case number if you need further help.
I upgraded today and had the same issue. They said they adjusted some things on their end. I'm not seeing the banked credits (15$ off for 25 months) in my account thought so I reached back out to confirm.
Edit: Representative said the savings and discounts (for 24 months) will show up after the next period closes.

You're not an idiot because you're not familiar with the process. We all have to start somewhere. The gist of what you said is correct with a few minor corrections.
Follow this checklist one item at a time. Do NOT skip any steps!
  1. Make sure your last VZW bill is fully paid. If you have a phone on some kind of payment plan with VZW you may want to pay it off completely and get confirmation that you're in the clear. If possible, get this in writing (email)
  2. Talk to VZW and ask them to confirm that (based on completing step 1 above) your phone's IMEI / ESN would be considered "clean", thus allowing you to activate a different service. You may also want to specifically point out that you intend on going with Visible, which is part of VZW to make sure their system won't puke all over itself and cause issues. Sometimes the CSR agent you talk to may try to hang on to you and convince you to stay, so don't be surprised if they offer some lukewarm resistance.
  3. Make sure VZW will not throw any curve balls at you with surprise bills, or fees, or early termination fees (ETFs). If possible, get this in writing (email)
  4. Make sure your phone supports eSim. if it does not, STOP. Go back to start. Do not collect M$200.
  5. Get this information ready. You may want to actually write it down on a piece of paper.
    1. Your Phone Number
    2. Your Port-Out PIN
    3. Your account number. Some carriers have a distinct account number that is different from the Phone Number. Others don't.
    4. If you're on a shared account or the account holder is someone else, you may want to inform that person of your intentions so they approve the port-out request in case VZW gets in touch with them
    5. Your IMEI and/or ESN. Normally you can get this by dialing *#06# on Android (I don't have iOS so you'd have to google the equivalent if you have an iPhone)
    6. Any discount codes (such as SWICTH25 or SAVE15)
  6. Make sure your phone is connected to WiFi for the next step. If you do not have access to Wifi, STOP. Go back to start. Do not collect M$200. If you proceed you could end up without service from either VZW nor Visible (happened to me before).
  7. Download the Visible app, create an account, and start the activation process. During this process you will be asked for the information mentioned in step 5 above. You did remember to write that information down somewhere right?

  8. Once done you should be activated (to some degree). However, It may take up to 24 to 48 hours for all functions to work properly. Sometimes I have seen port ins happen in less than 90 seconds, but normally it takes an hour or two up to a day or two. Normally data service works right away, with incoming and/or outgoing calls being phased in over the next few hours. You should also receive a text message when the port in has been completed. Sometimes it helps to reboot your phone a few times to nudge things along, but that is hit and miss and not guaranteed to expedite things. You can always chat with CSR to ask them to expedite. Sometimes that work if you're in some kind of rush.
  9. Once you receive text confirmation (and they may also send it in email) that your port in is complete, try making and receiving a few calls (ask a friend to help you check the caller ID for your outgoing calls) to make sure it works in both directions. It should, at this point. If you have any issues, contact customer service via chat. You may also want to reboot your phone just in case.
  10. Done. You do not need to communicate any more with VZW. The port in process should take care of closing out that line. However, if you're on a shared account or the primary account holder is not you, the VZW account will continue to live and incur more bills.
  11. Watch out for any last bills from VZW. If you did your homework properly (see steps 1 and 3 above) then you shouldn't have any nasty surprises. However, always be on the lookout as sometimes carriers can be sneaky.

I did it on Visible basic at 5Mbps, but without video conferencing. It was audio and sharing the screen. Audio quality tended to fluctuate but it is doable. I think with 10 Mbps it will be totally fine if you don't do video conferencing.

Why do companies always do this nonsense? It just ends up pissing off loyal customers in the end.

Question, I made the switch back during the SAVE24 Black Friday promotion to get the $20/month for 24 months + a $25 gift card.
I know that I need to pay for 3 months of service before getting the GC but if I make the switch now to this plan will I still get that GC?
