Well... it finally happened. Sub 2k for a top tier 4090 with micro-LED. Two years... and 5090/80 reveal this week at CES. I think I'll hold out for that.

Most likely won't be seeing 5000 series laptops, just the desktops, and even if we do then what? Wait another 2+ years for those to hit this level?
It's been <$2k before; I just received the one I ordered on Dec 24th on Friday. It looked brand new but I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it yet TBH. The screen on this thing is beautiful but the CPU runs REALLY hot (99oC in games in performance mode) and it has some other quirks. If you want maximum performance, the noise from the fans in "Turbo" is unbearable and they actually vibrate the chassis a bit. I have no idea how Acer can sell a product that's tuned so poorly, though admittedly I do not have a good basis of comparison to other gaming laptops. Dropping down to "Performance mode" from "Turbo" gives up ~20% from my limited testing (Cyberpunk FPS benchmark). That's a lot of unusable performance you have to leave on the table if you don't want to lose your hearing.
I think I could love this thing if Acer gave the software some TLC and unlocked the BIOS.
BTW, I got burned by Paypal when paying for this... I didn't realize that even if you change your default payment method, Paypal will STILL use the payment method you previously used on that particular site; ie, they associate the payment method with each website you used Paypal to pay. In my case it was an older credit card that declined the transaction, so Paypal withdrew the funds from my bank instead. I caught this right away but their automated system responded that, for that transaction, I can change the payment method, which I did but it obviously did not "take". I lost out on my points and any added protection the credit card may have provided... though I don't think there's anything useful there above what the included Allstate warranty would cover, except perhaps price protection. It's impossible to get a hold of anyone at Paypal to resolve payment issues; all their forms want to blame the seller or website.
I think this is very generous. On this specific model the CPU thermals are going to knee-cap you anyway (see my other reply). No issues with GPU thermals.

Yes, at least 64GB.
Thanks for your feedbacks. I guess I'll hold out for Razer Blade 18 4090 deal to pop up instead.
According to leak, RTX 5080 mobile has 16GB VRAM and will be 40% faster than 4080 mobile which mean it also slightly beat 4090 mobile. IMO launch price for RTX 5080 laptop will be ~ 2.5k and gradually drop to 2k at the end of 2025.
