i have the 2023 i'd.4 on a lease and can honestly say i'm counting down the days until this car goes back

one of the worst cars i've ever owned, technology is very poorly designed and frustrating, countless recalls and range is mediocre at best.

there are many more comparable options when it comes to EV. Chevy Equinox being one that is also very well priced.

My personal opinion would be to get him a used car if he or she a new driver. Cheaper insurance and less fear of damage. Damaging a leased car is going to be costly. Not meaning to offend or anything, just providing my own experience as an ex-college student.

Might want to consider a used EV instead. Model year 23 one owner vehicles under 25k should qualify for an additional 4k discount. the lease deal looks to be 10k per year for mileage. Prices exclude taxes and fees. I have an id 4. Can't say I would recommend it

Also be aware VW leaves you on the lease if you decide to transfer the lease. So unless you are transferring the lease to someone you know and trust you are taking a massive risk, if they don't pay vw can come after you to pay. This car will always be underwater so you will be pretty stuck with this for 24 months, but $200ish a month effective is damn cheap.

What is there to repair? Aside from tires it's maintenance free. Majority of EV manufacturers warranty batteries for 8 years or 100k miles. Leasing an EV is a great way to dip your feet without the worry about depreciation. As with all EVs you should consider the additional cost of installing a level 2 charger unless you feel comfortable doing it yourself. Charging exclusively on DC chargers become cost prohibitive and a pain considering charging speeds etc. most owners charge at home so the speed isn't usually an issue. For tires, you can get any decent tire as long as it meets the load requirement. I have been using Michelin Defenders in the summer and Nokian G4 in the winter with my rwd. In terms of range keep in mind the recommended charging is up to 80 percent so distance is lower then the max which is advertised. Since you are leasing you may not care. if you are DC charging you will bc of the slow charging curve. Only a handful of EVs are considered good road trippers. This isn't one of them which is why I still have a gas car.

You have to add $699 dealer handling fee a $695 acquisition fee, your local tax, title, and license fees. Also at the end of the lease you will be charged if you go over mileage, damage the vehicle, disposition fee if you don't plan to keep it.

This is the sleeper cost for EVs that people overlook until they sign.

It's not an EV problem as much as a "new tech" issue. Parts are scarce. Any mid-level accident effectively totals the vehicle. Insurance has responded accordingly with higher rates, even for historically low-risk persons.

As much as I'd like to pull the trigger on an EV, there's absolutely zero logic for "why" when a hybrid CR-V does all the same stuff for cheaper (minus the instant torque).
