i have the 2023 i'd.4 on a lease and can honestly say i'm counting down the days until this car goes back

one of the worst cars i've ever owned, technology is very poorly designed and frustrating, countless recalls and range is mediocre at best.

there are many more comparable options when it comes to EV. Chevy Equinox being one that is also very well priced.

My personal opinion would be to get him a used car if he or she a new driver. Cheaper insurance and less fear of damage. Damaging a leased car is going to be costly. Not meaning to offend or anything, just providing my own experience as an ex-college student.

Might want to consider a used EV instead. Model year 23 one owner vehicles under 25k should qualify for an additional 4k discount. the lease deal looks to be 10k per year for mileage. Prices exclude taxes and fees. I have an id 4. Can't say I would recommend it

Good luck in finding a dealer who will honor this deal !!

Some of the Houston, TX area dealers have it on their front pages:

Reality may be different if you go and talk to them. They have a note below saying title, tax etc. not included . Most of them will play with that and raise the price

This is an amazing deal! We LOVE our 2021 ID4. It's a premium vehicle. Handling, technology, and comfort are A+. We charge at 120V and fast charge at the Electrify America stations. Gets 300 miles on a charge, ~250 on the freeway. Super accurate, and I'd hope 3 years later even better.

This deal is for the basic, no-frills standard model.

if we are really going to discuss Cost of Ownership, then you also have to factor in resale value. We must acknowledge how steep the depreciation is for EVs compared to non-EVs. Without looking closely into it, I bet the Hybrid CR-V holds its value way better than the Y.
False. The depreciation you're referring to was when the Model Y was being sold for $60-70k. Then Tesla discounted the prices massively so it led to all Tesla prices declining - even in the used market.

That was years ago.

The depreciation isn't as steep now because the base price is much lower, around $40k.

What are the pitfalls?
Is there a chance to be not qualified for the "$7,500 EV Lease Bonus", e.g., due to high income? What is approximate monthly payment with all those fees and taxes included? In an average state.

Nice try, it was actually in 2021-2022, all those who purchased Tesla back there lost a lot,
there was thereat on Slickeeals as well.

They can't give these cars away. Lots of problems. On the top 5 cars with excess inventory. There is a few hundred days worth of these sitting on dealer's lots Thousands of these sitting with nobody buying

Does it have any free Electrify American charging incentive?

Anyone who took advantage of this deal at 149, could u please share dealer u bought from, and all fees due at signing and your payment? Just want some reference as I'm making decision. Someone offered pro for 169, but 4k fees or so. What should the upfront total fees be do at signing approximately? $999 plus another 1500?

Wondering if it's possible to get a decent deal for the better trim and stay at or around $200. 🤔

Do yourself a favor and only purchase an EV from a brand that's allowed access to the Tesla Supercharger network (Tesla, Rivian, GM, Ford, a few others). Any road trip of 200+ miles is unbearable if you can't use the supercharger network. Electrify America, Shell, EVgo all suck in terms of charging speed, reliability, location, etc.

I don't see why not. I drove a leased car in college that was in my parent's name but was insured under mine. I would assume most college kids "own" cars in their parent's name.

My recommendation now as a dad-

Get an insurance quote for that vehicle and your kid prior to purchase.

Understand the mileage allowance vs how much he/she will be driving.

It's an EV so access to charging on campus and or apartment.

You know how responsible (or not) your kid is. Obviously just by age they're at a higher risk of an accident.

Other factors to consider if/when they want to take it on a road trip (miles) or lending it out to friends/roommates. Those are the things I'd be concerned with if my kids were prone to doing things like that.
Don't know how that would've worked.... You can't typically insure a vehicle that's in someone else's name. Typically the car is in their name and you are on their policy....
