i have the 2023 i'd.4 on a lease and can honestly say i'm counting down the days until this car goes back

one of the worst cars i've ever owned, technology is very poorly designed and frustrating, countless recalls and range is mediocre at best.

there are many more comparable options when it comes to EV. Chevy Equinox being one that is also very well priced.

My personal opinion would be to get him a used car if he or she a new driver. Cheaper insurance and less fear of damage. Damaging a leased car is going to be costly. Not meaning to offend or anything, just providing my own experience as an ex-college student.

Might want to consider a used EV instead. Model year 23 one owner vehicles under 25k should qualify for an additional 4k discount. the lease deal looks to be 10k per year for mileage. Prices exclude taxes and fees. I have an id 4. Can't say I would recommend it

This is nice and thank you for posting the screenshot.A question is that the deal is the same in terms of down payment- but the monthly payment was increased to 215. Is the additional amount all taxes and fees rolled into a single monthly amount and dived by 24?
Yup. Total charged to card was $999 and $215/mo moving forward for the ID.4 S. I told him I would spend the time calling dealers within a 500 mile radius to get the price even lower, but my friend was done with that after calling just 2 local dealers. I bet I could have gotten it below $190 if I wanted to make the drive

Just to be clear, does this mean that leasing in Maryland sucks? Asking because I live there.
Yes, leasing in maryland is unpopular. The full tax on the sale price is rolled into the monthly lease payment, and if you buy out at lease end, you pay the full tax again.

So, anyone from a state where this is not the case, it's worth calling dealers in maryland as inventory is plentiful.

What a liar 🤥
Liar for what? That dealers sold them at advertised pricing, did you not see all the other posts in this thread where dealers did honor it.

I literally said you didn't even try to look, I did, found a bunch that got sold out.

And now I'm a liar
Lol

Yes and no.

Leasing cars in Maryland, Texas and Virginia is messed up because they do tax you on the full price of the car, not just the monthly payments. For people that lease a car every ~3 years, you are paying about twice as much in sales tax (or more) then you would in pretty much every other state. This can add up to thousands of dollars over each lease.

However, your comment about having to pay tax again if you buyout the lease is not accurate. As long as the original lessee buys out the car and everything is the same, you should not have to pay sales tax again. If someone else buys out the lease, then they would need to pay sales tax on the residual.

so has anybody actually gotten the deal for $999 down and $149 a month in CA. I called a dealership here and they didn't even call me back which is rare for a dealership so i figured its not realistic. As for the VW electric, i have a 2019 E golf for 5yrs. now with 100k miles and have had zero maintenance issue with it. Spent probably less than $700 in the past 5yrs for the service that was recommended by dealership which i'm not even sure if it was a real service (voltage check). OEM set of tires lasted me 40-60k miles and this second set is somewhere between 40k-50k miles and still have plenty of life on it. Only complaint is i wish it was longer range and a bit larger for family. But paid about low $20k before $7500 federal tax credit and state tax credit for it back then and probably one of the best deal i've ever gotten as far as car purchases go.

tbh your like 2 weeks to late, i was already too late last Friday, i litearlly saw like stock of 30 go to 3 to 0

and if you actually read the thread, many dealers honored it, the local dealer for me did and it was $170ish (149+tax), and down payment was like $2500+/- (999+tax/license/reg/dealer fees)

Does anyone know if you lease a car, can an 18-year-old drive it? This seems like a great way for a college student to have a car for a couple of years.
this car will get dinged up for an 18 year old new driver, and all leased car needs to meet certain spec (fixing your dings) upon return.... i would suggest getting a used car for a new driver
