Note that these have 100mg caffeine. Packaging shows this but it should be stated up front imo

Going to see how these compare to the pure protein. Started drinking the cafe latte version as a substitute for a latte or frapp in the morning, as I like the taste (of the pure protein flavors I've tried so far its my fav) and the bonus of getting extra protein in. Been paying about $26 for the pure protein 12 pk so this will save me about $10. With the coupon and S&S it was a little over $16.

I bought a case of this stuff in September of last year when it went on sale. I didn't bother to read the ingredients before purchasing and found out they put a bunch of artificial sweetener (sucralose) in this thing. I admit, I did drink a bottle, and it tasted pretty good. The rest of it have been sitting in a corner ever since due to the addition of the artificial sweetener.
A quick google search:
Sucralose may increase the risk of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular conditions. It may also be linked to liver damage, DNA damage, and so on. Yikes. You may want to do further research. There is no reason to add artificial sweetener other than to try and make the drink tastes better in order to pad their profits.

does "a quick google search" = "further research"?

and yes, obviously the point of an artificial sweetener is to make food/drinks taste better/sweeter, what the heck else would the purpose be?

you know what else increases the risk of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular conditions? actual sugar, but actual sugar also:

~contains a ton of calories
~causes tooth decay
~is much more likely to raise your blood sugar

and you need to use a lot more of it to attain the same levels of sweetness as you do with sucralose (and other substitutes.)

one caveat is that there are people with sensitivities, like those with IBS.

any way, yes, I agree that everyone should do their own research, but I'm sick of people like you leaving some one-sided, half-ass info on threads like this, and all around the internet.

artificial sweeteners are great solutions for a lot of people.

Sucralose is 600 times sweeter than sugar. The amount of sucralose in a protein shake is miniscule and isn't even metabolized.

I tried this, not the most pleasant flavor especially compared to Premier Protein Cafe Latte (both wife and I agree the latter has superior taste)
